Paper cuts aren’t always bad…
12. Aug, 2008 by Adii Rockstar in New Themes
I’m sure that you’ll agree with our pretty bold statement in the title, when you see Papercut, which is the latest theme to be added to the WooThemes collection.
This grungy beauty was designed by one of our new best friends –
We think that the homepage design of Papercut is absolutely incredible (in a modest way okay – hehe) if you’re looking to add a whole bunch of content to it. The grid-based layout really allows all of the content to “feature” in their own right, whilst not over-complicating the design.
You will also note that the design features a whole bunch of minor details to increase the overall user experience. We’ve paid a lot of attention to the typography and content text styles (for both posts & comments) in our attempt to truly create something magnificent.
Functionality
As you will now come to expect from us, Papercut is built on the same kind of functionality and backend that is featured in all of our other themes. This time however, we’ve decided to add some new things, which we hope you will like…
One of the new features in Papercut (that is essentially on trial and will be added to other themes if this “experiment” proves successful) is that the whole sidebar is widgetized. We’ve even custom-developed some additional Papercut-specific widgets which you can add to the sidebar; and will fit seamlessly into Paper Cut’s overall styling.
Check it!
Anyway, we can either continue to use a bunch of descriptive adjectives in our round-up of the theme’s release, or you can check it out here and decide for yourself.
And BTW… Our club subscribers already got access to this new beauty a hour ago… So download away WooMembers!

The top navigation is very cool.

@Chris M – Anything else you find cool?

Looks great Adii!

Great work on the new theme! Liam did one hell of a job

This is a great theme. Great job, Liam! It amazes me all the places I’m seeing Liam these days around the web – he really has great visibility in the community right now.
In regards to the theme, I like the tasteful use of grunge brushes and textures, and just the overall cleanliness of this theme. It’s real crisp.
In particular, I’m very fond of the navigation, as well as the highlighted category text within individual posts. It has a Freelance Switch/Tut Sites feel.

So beautifully textured and yet cleanly elegant. Love this.

Guys, are you selling this theme?
It bears an uncanny resemblance to the following theme:
http://wordpress-designers.com/sketchd/
Even the typeface for the logo is exactly the same, as is the overall feel, especially the floral version.

@Bruce – The themes don’t look alike at all… Or maybe if you consider that the design was done by the same person, you’d think a little further and realize that “Oh, both themes represents one designer’s signature style”.
12 August 2008 at 3:32 pm #
With all do respect, Bruce, the theme designer, Liam frequently collaborates with wordpress-designers. Furthermore, the only similarity I see between the two themes is the “grunge” style – slight inspiration at best.
In any event, I don’t see any conflicts here at all.

WooThemes has quickly become my choice source for all my blogs and professional websites. With over 10,000 unique visitors per month to many of my sites, I was struggling with poorly supported themes. Yours ROCK! And I LOVE this new theme. Now I’m going to have to start a new business or website to fit the theme.

The new theme looks very cool. I’m a fan of the top navigation and the way posts are displayed as features, but not overly dominant on the page. Nice work.

Cool. That would explain it. That’s the trouble with some sites, such as wordpress-designers, they don’t put any names to the work so you don’t know who’s behind it.
Adii, thanks for the sarcasm though, I’m going to sign up and join WooThemes now.
Best!

@Bruce – Sarcasm is indeed the lowest form of wit, but we do seem to try…
Sign up – you won’t be disappointed! Nothing sarcastic about our themes…

@Cory Thanks man! I completely agree, there’s a hint of that Collis Ta’eed feel there for sure.

Awesome theme! I love it. I can’t wait to see some people using it, and what they do with it.
Only thing is, it would be nice if it was centered. Though I realize that can be done with the CSS, it would then take away from the wonderful background image.
But yeah, LOVE it. Keep em comin.

really interested in buying the theme, but definitely uncertain of it not being centered. any thoughts on the feasibility of that? (I’m actually debating signing up for the ‘club’ membership, but…)
19 August 2008 at 11:53 am #
@kevin – It is actually feasible to center the theme. You would need to modify some CSS code, as well as the background PSD, but our forum ninja’s would be more than happy to help.

Hi there,
thinking about this theme, but can you tell me – the header image – how easy is it to change this, the logo I mean?
Love this theme BTW – well done -its exactly what I have been looking for
3 September 2008 at 2:28 pm #
@John – The theme has a built-in option to change the logo. So you’d simply need to upload your own logo and make it available through our theme options.

@Adii – What modify in the CSS, that let the site body be in the center? Plz help me! Thx.
