BlogTheme now available for free!
30. Dec, 2008 by Adii Rockstar in New Themes
We’ve decided to end 2008 on a high and make BlogTheme available for public release. So with this free release, we are now already boasting four, very nice free themes – which will definitely receive a big boost in 2009 as well.
The decision to make this theme available for free now, after initially releasing it as a paid theme, might look strange to you, but we can assure you that there’s nothing dodgy about this decision at all… We simply feel that even though BlogTheme is a great-looking theme; the new pricing structure we trialed with the theme did not really have the effect we were aiming for. So instead of increasing the price of the theme (to be level with our other themes), we’d rather just release it for free!
We will also be taking care of all our users who have purchased a copy of BlogTheme until now. E-mails were sent out to them this morning, which offers them the opportunity to either exchange their copy of BlogTheme for any one of our other great themes or request a full refund for the purchase. If you haven’t received this email please contact us.
So everyone stays a winner around here…
We hope that you enjoy your New Years’ celebrations tomorrow!

I’m not really a Wordpress user, but picked up this news via Twitter. I find your approach of offering an exchange of theme or a full refund of purchase to be extremely unusual to say the least and you are to be congratulated on your business methods.

@Ric – Well, we try not do be average…
Plus – it really is our aim to put our users first every single time, even though we maintain that we’re only human. So ultimately it’s about being fair & reasonable.

Does this release have anything to do with this theme’s lack of sales? They didn’t look very good on http://www.adii.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/the-woo-long-tail.jpg

Free… a steal of a deal. Thanks for making BlogTheme available to us all!

@matt – No, not really. Remember that the graph is based on sales turnover and because BlogTheme was almost half the price of the other themes it could not compete turnover-wise, but was definitely competitive sales-wise.

I like your customer service. Allowing costumers to exchange themes because they’ve already paid is the ethical thing to do.
