Sneak peek at Productum

Written by Mark Forrester on January 12, 2009 Product News.

As Adii mentioned last week there are some really exciting themes to look forward to over the next few months.

Lately I’ve been fairly quiet being more involved in creating alternate styles for other designer’s woothemes, then designing themes myself, but over the last few weeks I’ve managed to find some time to work on some designs of my own. The latest being Productum which is a theme dedicated to promoting your product or service.

Packed into a neat 16 column grid structure this theme comes bundled with a neat product image slideshow, a featured content block, recent news/blog posts and some widgetized modules available on your home page. As always it will be available in a variety of colourful styles. With all these features you should be able to customize Productum enough to have a very slick, professional marketing tool. Might I add this theme is not an e-commerce theme, but will have theme options to easily link buttons to payment facilities.

This theme should be available for purchase in late March/April.

Constructive feedback and feature requests are much appreciated, but we obviously cannot guarantee to accomodate all of them.

Looks nice, Mark! Great idea. Is that a video slider widget on the lower left?
I recommend moving the RSS link out of the nav bar, as the product image may be a different shape than what you have there. Perhaps a better spot would be in the header (top right) or even better: make it part of or next to the ‘Recent News’ heading.

By the way, you’ve got a typo in the headline of this post — it should be ‘peek’ instead of ‘peak’. 🙂

Glad the general concensus is good so far.

@Rafael: That should hopefully be a video slider widget correct.

Regarding the RSS button: I have actually moved it from it’s position in this screenshot already. Great minds think alike 😉

    Lovely!!

Can’t wait for it. Have been looking for something exactly like this. I was even considering paying someone a few hundred $ to get someone to do something similar.

Leave it up to WooThemes to get it right!

    Thanks!

I’ve decided to extend my subscription even though I was a bit reluctant. I’m now officially happy. I like the sneak peeks. This looks very nice indeed.

Love the video customer scroll on the home page. As far as other features – what about a product rating or reviews by customers. This seems damn near perfect for a product/product lauch site. Get this theme released!! You’ll make a lot of people happy! (or if you need a beta tester, let me know :))

@whittfield – Glad that our new, planned releases has inspired you to keep in on the Woo Club fun! 🙂

@Kam – Seems like WooThemes is continously beating custom development every time!?

@Steve – What kind of rating / review system do you imagine? Do you perhaps have an example from an existing (“real”) product website?

This is just what I need for planned site to go along with my other 9 woo themes. 🙂 Are the images under the large image on the right clickable to a post? That would be great.
I want to get this and geometric. Can I buy Geometic now and get this as my second when it is ready?

    Something like this:
    http://demo.magentocommerce.com/review/product/list/id/51/category/22/

Have two – four categories to provide feedback on (like quality, price, etc) and then the general comments box.

Bottom line – I love the theme, but I am not patient….a Feb release date would be AMAZING! Be the overacheiving company we have come to expect 🙂

@Steve – We’ll look into implementing this. And I can’t promise a Feb release, since we already have a long list of themes to release before Productum… 🙂

@River Girl – Unfortunately you can’t postpone the selection of your free theme; so you will just have to pick up another two themes when Productum is released! 🙂

Looks great. I personally think the icons in the footer should be 60% of the current size +/-.
Except for that it all looks great!

@Phillip: Thanks for the feedback. I’m well into the development of the theme and the iconography will definitely be tweeted a little 🙂

This is a great idea for a theme. What kind of “widgetized modules” are going to be available with this theme from WooThemes. Just wondering,
