Such an awesome competition!
For me, wpressd.com would be turned into a site all about Wordpress T-shirts/selling them (haha).

I would love to have WPMag. I have an idea of creating a monthly/bi-weekly online magazine related to Word Press. It will have tutorials, tips, tricks and will also feature the best WordPress blogs on the Internet. I will also be roping in a small team. I am sure this would rock. If i get such a good good domain, it will be an added plus.

I would use the wpmag.com domain to create a WordPress guide site. This is different than the straight magazine offerings because my focus would be on providing solutions, not just data and information, in the form of guides.

Are you new to WordPress and need to know how to get started? We have a guide for that. Looking to add some functionality to your WordPress blog? Select the function and we have a guide for that. If we don't, ask and we will get it. Need to know how to maintain your blog and keep it running? How do I make money with my blog? If there is more than one solution, the guide will focus on that.

Site will be supported by the community and the community will be rewarded. Use a revenue sharing plan to ensure the best guide writers are compensated for their work. Will incorporate a rating scheme (along with comments) to keep guide writers honest.

Site will also showcase what is being done with WordPress. Will run regular contests (it is a magazine) for the best sites submitted, most innovative and great content.

Of course, the site will use a WooThemes (Fresh News or Busy Bee, I think) and all profits will be put back into the site (after expenses) for the revenue share and giveaways.

It is difficult finding a neutral third party out there with great content. Our guides will help everyone find that content. And if there are any ads on the site, it will be at a minimum.

I would like to develop either into a site similar to Smashing Magazine or A List Apart that focuses only on WordPress related designing, hacks, usage, etc.

I think there is so much to discuss about WordPress that it should have a site similar to Smashing Magazine but with sole focus on WordPress.

I would include: Forum (bbpress, of course!) so users can share and ask for coding help, design showcase for WordPress-related sites only, and news articles that focus on themes, designing, use, hacks, tricks, plugins, or even user submitted content via TDO Miniforms plugin.

Ideally, I could create this site to be very interactive (forums, users submitted news, etc) while constantly being updated.

I also want to release a few themes that I have already developed, including a theme that has many page layouts for ultimate styling, a new classifieds theme, and more.

I would also like to feature companies or individuals that are pioneers in the WordPress field, from amazing design skills (Hi WooThemes!!) to creative uses (Unstructured.org).

I think a great, easy to remember domain name is key to making this idea successful as it relies on user interaction. I would really like WPMag.com (first choice) or wpressd.com. I can see potential.

This is an idea I have had for sometime, but I am not ready to launch since I am missing a good domain name. I think Gotham News or NewsPort would be perfect themes for this purpose as well!

I would end-up putting together a "magazine with a twist." Some sort of community magazine where pretty much anybody could write articles and submit links to a link feed. There would also be some aggregation in play, pulling headlines and 140-char excerpts from WordPress-related blogs, Twitter streams, etc.

The general idea is to have a site that would be a one-stop place to find out what's happening the WordPress community, and for users to share their knowledge of the platform.

WPmag would obviously be a good fit for this, but wpressd would work as well.

A Site dedicated to helping people accomplish 3 simple yet needed things:

-Seeing the value of making something great and getting it out to people via a blog.
-Finding valuable tools and ideas to get them started and succeeding.
-Building sites dedicated to excellence and community.

This is a great idea guys! I'd love to be in the mix as well...

We're looking for a new project to go along with the revamp of fixmypcnow.com, orangeapplegroup.com, and theswankcity.com.

WPMag: seems like a no-brainer for a Wordpress fanboy site. I mean that in the nicest way possible, of course. Feature articles from various other hot design blogs revolving around wordpress. Original content for n00bs and pro's alike. Discussing plugins, themes, scaling, caching/opitimization, etc... Prominent ad placement for our partner site, Woo Themes. We'd definitely give this the TLC it deserves.

WPressd: Personally, I would want a traditional style blog ordered chronologically that details various blogs running Word Press. I know it's been done before, but I think it can be done better and with more style.

Give us the change, guys. We'll make you proud!

Well, this isn't very original (many great minds think alike), but I will try to answer in detail. I would turn wpmag.com into the ultimate slick, magazine-style site about WordPress -- similar to Smashing Magazine but only about WordPress (as many have said).

The site would have clearly defined sections/"departments" clearly segmented for the various audiences:

-- Novices looking for great themes, hosting and also WP designers.
-- WP developers looking for inspiration and community.
-- Everyone in between, for example, people who want to heavily customize existing themes.

The site would, of course, be the ultimate WP portal, featuring:

-- Latest news about WP, theme providers*, WPMU, BuddyPress, etc.
-- Tips, tricks and free downloads (some of the great "freemium" themes, for example)
-- A marketplace for people looking for WP designers, and possibly for designers looking for work
-- Lots of interaction and community
-- A WPMU installation offering free blogs, like WordPress.com.

*Proper homage would always be given to WooThemes in appreciation for the domain. But, to truly be a comprehensive WP resource, the site would feature all theme providers who are worthy of being featured. This reflects the true spirit of most of the theme providers...for example many of the best WP theme designers interact with each other: WooThemes team, Jason Schuller, Brian Gardner, Cory Miller, etc. So the WPMag.com site would also share this community spirit and not be biased toward any one theme provider.

Of course, I would want the site to support itself and be profitable. ;-) I would monetize the site in a few ways:

1) With affiliate links from the various commercial theme providers we feature.

2) By promoting my own firm's WP design/customization skills. (We focus on customizing existing themes to get sites up quickly.)

3) As mentioned above, we could also include ads to create a marketplace for WP designers and people looking for designers. Even though we would promote our own design offerings, this portal should be far too big for us to handle all the available business.

4) By promoting my web hosting firm's WP hosting. I would resist the temptation to use affiliate links from the overcrowded hosting providers, because I truly believe that my firm offers a better hosting product.

5) The free blogs offered via WPMU would be monetized with a tasteful amount of advertising inserted into users' blogs in certain instances...just like WordPress.com.

I have been developing a site called wpthemecentral.com, offering one-stop shopping for the best free and premium themes, but those efforts would be rolled into the WPMag.com site instead. I love the idea of a more comprehensive WP portal site instead of just a theme site.

I am a perfectionist, and I would devote the proper time and attention to making this site a huge success and contribute greatly to the WordPress community.

I know that this post includes some ideas that others have also brought up, and I'm not trying to steal or borrow those thoughts. The name "WPMag" conjures up many of these thoughts.

Good luck to everyone!

I would take the Wordpress Mag idea and create monthly issues that got released on the 01st of every month.

Each issue would be a separate Wordpress installation tied into one database so users have access to each monthly "issue".

The issue would be taking some of the best Wordpress themes out there, filling it up with quality and content related to only Wordpress, Wordpress Extensions, Tips, New Styles, and other things community related.

We could have a team that constantly has issues about what's new w/ webdevelopers and how to take new webscripts and mods and make the most of their Wordpress installations via combining good script and design.

At the same time it's all sampled and every month the user can see everything written in the e-mag first hand on that issue.

A toolbar would also be put on the top so users can quickly navigate through different monthly issues.

Currently I am marketing executive for a website solutions company and we have a few dedicated servers and we'd be able to handle a very large amount of traffic.

We could have a team that constantly has issues about what’s new w/ webdevelopers and how to take new webscripts and mods and make the most of their WordPress installations via combining good script and design.

At the same time it’s all sampled and every month the user can see everything written in the e-mag first hand on that issue.

A toolbar would also be put on the top so users can quickly navigate through different monthly issues.

Currently I am marketing executive for a website solutions company and we have a few dedicated servers and we’d be able to handle a very large amount of traffic.

A great idea Adi.

If I had any of them. I'd make the blog a complete guide of Wordpress that even a one who doesn't know the meaning of blog can learn. Content from, What is Blog, What is CMS, What is Wordpress till Wordpress SEO, theme making, and more depth etc.. will be there.

A guidance blog for all.

I already have a domain with a similar idea and I am sure the concept will also do great for WPMag.com

If I win WPMag.com, I would be making a most simplistic, elegant design offering free resources of WP to newbies.

The website will have four important and dedicated sections

1. Best Wordpress Site Gallery
2. Wordpress Resources/Templates/Plugins
3. Wordpress Tutorials
4. Wordpress Discussion Forum

These Services will be 100% free. After a while, adding a very light job board or classified section will help people to look and hire WP Designers and Coders.

To prove, I have already worked and working on some successful projects with a Team and giving or investing time should not be a concern to develop this domain.

This wont be just another project. It will be a chance to give something back to the community.
