WP WooThemes Ultimate Icon Set – First Release

So it seems that we’ve taken a break to team up with our new friend and icon designer – Nishan, who releases his work on iStockphoto (this is not an affiliate link, don’t worry) – to bring you a brand new, FREE icon set. We haven’t suddenly turned into icon designers, but though that a well-designed, free icon set would be a great value add-on to our themes.

This is the first release of the WP WooThemes Ultimate Icon Set and the idea is to expand and build on the set (which contains 79 icons at the moment) in the coming months. The free download contains all 79 icons, sized at 256×256 pixels and available in both PNG and GIF formats. As an added bonus to our users, they will also be able to download Nishan’s Illustrator file, which will give them high-res, vector copies of the icons.
So what are you waiting for? Click here to download the icon set now and get cracking on implementing it in your new designs.
For our users…
All of our club subscribers, will get access to the Illustrator file download automatically and it will be available from their control panel. If you only own individual themes from us, then you would need to follow the following instructions:
- Log into your WooThemes account.
- Head on over to your control panel
- And then in the Select Product drop-down box, find the WP WooThemes Ultimate Icon Set and click “Submit”

Hi, these icons look great!
What is the license for them? How ‘free’ are they?
I see the two restrictions (link to share and no upload elsewhere) above, but are there any others? Can I use them commercially?

@Mike – I’ve just added a little snippet at the bottom of the post, licensing the icons with Creative Commons. So yes, you can use them commercially!

Is it just me, or is there not an “email” icon? Would be awesome if one could be included in this? I’d reckon an email icon should be quite standard?

@MarkB – Yup for sure. That’s why this is only the first release of the icon set!
Anyone should feel free to suggest further icon additions to the set, which will then be considered for the second, updated release.

Confused about your licensing. You state that sharing these are prohibited, but you have attached a CC license which specifically states they abcn e shared. Can you clarify terms? Thanks!

Very good icon package, i recommend using well designed icons, that would make our websites more beautiful and useful, because sometime the icon says more than word can.

As Ethan mentioned earlier, your choice of license contradicts your requirement that nobody upload your icons elsewhere. If you really want to prohibit re-distribution, the Creative Commons licenses aren’t the right ones for you. Legally, you may be on uncertain territory.
I would love to upload these to a site ( http://iconfu.com/ ) that allows people re-use and modify any icon in the collection for their own purposes; each icon would be fully credited and attributed and would generate links back to your page. If you really don’t want re-distribution though, you might be better off finding a different license. (There is no CC license that prohibits redistribution though, you’ll need to look elsewhere).
