The Polished Station
12. Mar, 2009 by Adii Rockstar in Theme Concepts
I just wanted to give you all an update on the development progress of my new theme – The Station – since we’ve been quiet on the matter since I posted the previews a few months ago. We’ve been doing quite a bit of upgrading work to our existing themes, whilst we’ve been trying to push through the backlog of themes concepts; which has meant that we haven’t had time until now to attend to The Station.
But with time, comes wisdom (or something like that); so FRESH01 and I have given the theme mockups a once-over to give it a much more polished and vibrant look. The theme has also officially gone into development this week and even though we won’t put an exact date on its release, we can now safely say that it won’t be too long before its release.
So here’s the updated mockups for preview… Let us know what you think!

Woah, that’s nice!
12 March 2009 at 9:02 am #
Now this is my kinda theme. very neat, tidy and sleek looking.
12 March 2009 at 9:02 am #
Very very nice, definitely looking forward to this one
12 March 2009 at 9:06 am #
Thanks for the feedback guys! I’m quite excited to release this one later this month (touch wood) and I feel the layer of polish gives the theme a much shinier / vibrant look and feel.
12 March 2009 at 9:08 am #
cool indeed
12 March 2009 at 9:56 am #
This theme has a lot of potential!
Looking forward to the finished result.

Another one bites the dust – will try to wait until available to order it with Productum. Looks great.
12 March 2009 at 12:27 pm #
Yep, I’ll be grabbing this and Productum too.
12 March 2009 at 12:36 pm #
I’d love to see another colorschemes
12 March 2009 at 2:11 pm #
Love the layout, great design with lot’s of flexibility!
12 March 2009 at 9:47 pm #
This is probably one of the best looking business WP themes I’ve ever seen. Will there be options to add more graphics to the header area of the index page? Great work so far Adii
12 March 2009 at 10:05 pm #
How will the sub-page navigation look? Looks very clean so far!
13 March 2009 at 12:37 am #
@Scott – Sub-pages will be listed in a drop-down from the main navigation in a similar style (only square and not rounded corners) to the hover tab.
@Nash – Yes, you will be able to add whatever you want to the left-hand side of the “featured message” panel.
13 March 2009 at 8:44 am #
This is looking brilliant – I really look forward to seeing it in action. The only thing I personally would like to see is for the navigation bar to be a pale grey, so the content is more ‘obvious’ – similar to your Busy Bee theme.
13 March 2009 at 9:52 am #
Wow, this is going to be -IMHO- your best theme yet.
13 March 2009 at 10:47 am #
Unbelievable, hands down the cleanest and nicest theme.
What color combos are you gonna push out with the theme?
Great Job.
13 March 2009 at 11:28 am #
I can see a LOT of practical uses for this. Its a solid layout with a simple design making it super flexible.
13 March 2009 at 11:49 am #
This is a great looking theme with lots of possibilities. I would agree with Olivia Bell – that incorporating some of the design of BusyBee in the header would be a nice option.
13 March 2009 at 11:21 pm #
@Alexander – We normally only develop the alternative colour schemes after we’ve completed the whole theme in WordPress. But we’d probably do around 10 colour options, covering all of the most popular colour palettes.
@Steve & @Olivia – We will consider this for the alternative colour schemes. You’d obviously also be able to change the navigation once you have the theme installed on your side, as the plan is to make the theme as customizable as possible!
14 March 2009 at 5:18 pm #
Put a rush on it!! I love it. Watch out busy bee here comes the station
15 March 2009 at 8:16 am #
Cool, Another WOW theme from Woo! I like the colortheme..
15 March 2009 at 9:34 am #
Very very nice! Always bewondering how to make a static frontpage using wp.
16 March 2009 at 6:17 pm #
Wow, I can’t wait until this one is released. I think that this one has the potential to overtake my all time favorite (Over Easy).
17 March 2009 at 3:35 am #
Aww! That is awesome man
Now you give me another option if a company asking me to build a website for them
17 March 2009 at 4:15 am #
Don’t know if it has the option for drop-down menus/sub-menus, breadcrumb nav or what areas on the front page are widgetized, but it’d be great to have the ability to control those elements.
What I’m seeing right now looks great. Perfect for businesses or organizing a content-heavy personal blog…or something in between.
17 March 2009 at 5:58 am #
@kat – Homepage isn’t widgetized, but very extensible through a clever paging system in the backend. And the menu’s will probably the most customizable ever for a WooTheme…
18 March 2009 at 6:20 pm #
Hi Adii,
This is perfect for my new website. When will it be available?
19 March 2009 at 1:00 am #
@Richard – It will be available next week!
19 March 2009 at 9:24 pm #
are you taking beta testers? this theme is going to have to be used on my site
20 March 2009 at 8:07 am #
SOLD!
20 March 2009 at 8:14 am #
Love it! More business themes like this please!
20 March 2009 at 9:18 am #
Haha @Matt… I’ve done the beta-testing and I assure you its amazing!
The Station will be available next week…
20 March 2009 at 12:05 pm #
Two words; “Very Clean”
20 March 2009 at 4:25 pm #
Looks good. a really important question though
on the inner pages, i would not want the left navigation to show since it’s redundant to the top breadcrumb nav and the drop-downs and would rather have a wider page to work with. is that going to be possible? please say yes….
and the broadcast message at the top. is that a post or a page. and the sections to the right of that – are they posts or pages?
hopefully the clicks would be trackable?
does the theme support the all-in-one-seo-pack plugin?
21 March 2009 at 4:48 am #
oh, and will the new themes support drop down menus and be optimized for SEO?
21 March 2009 at 9:37 am #
Think I will be purchasing this one along with a Club License
22 March 2009 at 12:48 am #
@John – Obviously our themes will be coded with SEO in mind, plus have fancy drop-down menu’s!
The “featured” section on the homepage will be controlled by pages. And we’ve already included an option to switch off the secondary navigation (left) on inner pages.
We’ve got our game face on!
22 March 2009 at 3:04 am #
Adii – that’s awesome. hey 2 more questions…
1. the right area at the top of the page. is that always 4 sections or is this customizable? how does clicking on the 4 areas on the right function? are they pop-ups or do they navigate off of the page?
2. when will this be available for purchase??
great work guys…really psyched about the progress you’re making this year!
go woo.
23 March 2009 at 6:39 pm #
adii – any update to my questions? trying to figure out if that top right part of the page is measurable, clickable – is it just a post? where does that “click here for more info” button take them? to a page? or post and where does that show in the top nav?
24 March 2009 at 3:02 pm #
@John – The featured tabber contains pages and you can specify the amount which should be displayed there. The extra information (like the button) is specified per page via the meta data.
And the theme is set for release on Thursday!
25 March 2009 at 3:21 pm #
Any idea when this is going to be live? still looking at this week? I sure how so. As soon as it is live i am going to be join the club.
26 March 2009 at 2:38 pm #
so the tabber content is pages and then those can be excluded from the nav so they will only show in the top tabber part of the page?
it would be REALLY helpful if you showed this in your demo, btw. I’m sure you guys are busy, but it’s easier to conceptualize some of these things (e.g. your woo widgets) if you show them in screenshots.
that would help us pull the trigger on a purchase more quickly…

I love this theme and am already in my mind planning a project around it. Is there any date for when it will be released yet?
Is there an existing theme that could be used meanwhile, for which this will be an upgrade?
28 April 2009 at 7:29 am #
@Manne – The station IS released
Check “our themes” page.
28 April 2009 at 7:33 am #
Doh! Sorry for not keeping up.
Thanks!
