@Alex – You can firstly switch off the automation in the slider and it is definitely possible to only then display one panel in that space. You would however need to tweak some CSS to hide the next / previous buttons.

@WPThemes – Good point. We’ll add this to our to-do of extra stuff to add to the theme.

I definitely think WooThemes should have “Full Width” page for every theme release.
