Voting Poll: Name the new WOO2 content / news blog
08. Jun, 2009 by Adii Rockstar in Interactive
So on Friday, we asked you to help name our new content / news blog on WOO2 and we got quite a few, really cool suggestions from all of you. We’re really surprised with the creativity of your ideas and we’d like to thank all of you who threw an idea into the hat.
In particular we’d like to thank Jake, Gould, Steve Robillard, Prashant and Brad Potter, who (in our opinion) contributed the best ideas and makes it into our little shortlist.
And now we just need you to vote for your favourite suggestion below…

Out of the 6, WooCamp got my vote!

What about Camp WooDoo ?

Or tribe. We are a tribe, ay?

@okjedi – Tribe is pretty cool, but it’s the same “message” as WooCamp.
And yeah guys, my vote has also gone for WooCamp, but we’ll wait for more votes before we make a final decision.

I like the Camp name too. One thing I’m not sure about: is a Woothemes blog really in the spirit of what a “camp” is all about. A camp is typically an interactive and loosely organized open dialogue type of conference, not affiliated with any one company, but rather with a cause/ open platform/ collective interest group etc. I know a blog is a vehicle for interactive open dialogue, but I’m not quite sure about using the concept for an individual brand.
My vote would be for Tribe – I like the camp concept and Tribe embodies that.
Maybe I’m being pedantic but its a valid point of view – i think
Let me know your thoughts.

‘WooCamp’ sounds good. However, in future, if Woo were to organise offline meetings/events like WordCamp, then what would you call it? So, WooCamp is more apt for an offline meetup?

I like MetaBits and Alchemy the best. “WooCamp” sounds like it should be a conference or convention like WordCamp…
(Think about it, you’re a producer of *WordPress* themes. You don’t want to create unnecessary confusion with WordCamp, do you? It’s only a few letters away…)

WooCamp sounds the most familiar, but I agree with Brandan and Prashant.
I vote for WooDoo (sounds like We Do), although it may reflect negative meaning and lead to misspelling.

Thanks for all the comments. And guess what… This is the beauty of democracy…
So I guess we’ll make our final decision based on what the votes say.

Adii mentioned the new secondary blog would be more of a content blog, where they will cover a variety of different topics of interest to people that would use their themes. The new blog sounded like it would be a learning resource among other things so the WooCamp/Camp WooThemes seemed fitting.
It’s also a brand that could be extended beyond a blog. Perhaps one day you might attend a WooCamp session at a WordCamp conference.

Sounds good Adii. WooCamp is looking great. I’ve been away for a few days on a fishing trip. Will keep an eye out for a message.
