We show you teasers (Part 1)
23. Jun, 2009 by Adii Rockstar in Theme Concepts
Okay, so we probably wouldn’t be able to call ourselves WooThemes if we didn’t continuously get you all excited about future theme releases, by releasing little teasers of upcoming themes. And even though we know we just make your wait so much more painful (because we all want those awesome designs to be delivered right-away), we know you love these posts!
So the last time we posted some teasers, was way back in March this year (here & here) and from those lists we still have Feature Pitch & “Big Easy” (from Dan Rubin) in the backlog. Feature Pitch will be released next week and then Big Easy, along with Groovy Photo & Blog (from last year’s WooContest) have been scheduled for release next month. (Don’t hold us to that, because we’re a fickle bunch hehe…)
For this post then, we’ve got 4 amazing new theme concepts that we’re working on. You’ll see that we’re only showing you very small teasers in Part 1, but as soon as all 4 concepts are completed, we’ll be publishing more in-depth teasers of the upcoming themes. So here we go (in alphabetical order)…

Some Max Voltar awesomeness
Antisocial by Tim van Damme
We’ve been in love with Tim’s network design ever since we first saw it and apparently we’re not the only one’s that have wanted to create a design inspired by his original work. So we’ve been working with Tim to create a design which includes all of his network design’s elements, along with a little blogging & lifestreaming. The result is a very early concept called “Antisocial”, which is totally unique to anything we’ve released before. [Tim has also given his blog followers a little preview here.]

VIP Access
Backstage by Elliot Jay Stocks
Elliot finally makes a comeback and Backstage will be his second contribution to WooThemes (only because we love Elliot & Proudfolio has been a very popular theme among you lot). Since Elliot has had multiple affairs into the music scene, we thought it would be great to ask him to fill another gap in our theme collection; a design that would primarily work for musicians, artists & bands. The result? An amazing new concept – Backstage – which comes in 3 different style flavours (grunge, glossy & minimalist). You really want this theme (too)…

Great photography exposed
Exposure by FRESH01
And yes… We are still designing in-house as well… Cobus (FRESH01) only joined our little team earlier this year and whilst he’s been responsible for polishing both of my recent themes (The Station & Feature Pitch), he hasn’t contributed his own, unique design yet. But that is officially changing when we’ll be releasing Exposure in the coming months. Exposure is a photoblog design (guess, you could use it as a digital portfolio as well) and has been heavily influenced by the popularity of Aperture. The idea was for Exposure to have a really minimalist feel (even though Cobus has already designed a grunge style alternative as well) and totally focus the attention on the photos.

Showcase your work
SophisticatedFolio by Tony Geer
Personally I’ve always been a fan of Tony’s work and I was pleasantly surprised a while back when we got an e-mail from him, suggesting a little collaborative design effort. We have thus been working with Tony on a new portfolio (and blog) design, which should draw a lot of inspiration both from his current design, as well as the previous iteration, which got a lot of linklove from design galleries. SophisticatedFolio is thus just an upgraded offering on our already-great range of portfolio themes, since we haven’t released a portfolio theme in quite some time.
What you waiting for?
If you haven’t joined WooThemes yet, you really need to think long & hard about why you’re not sharing in this fun. We think the above teasers are enough evidence that things here at WooThemes are only gonna get better and the themes collection is sure to hot up towards the end of year.
In addition to these themes, we’re also negotiating more collaborations with some top-notch designers. Magnus (who hasn’t designed a theme for a while) also has a new theme concept in the works (a design that was initially used as an early iteration for WOO2) and rumours suggest that Mark is designing the follow-up to Aperture. So you’re missing out on the fun if you’re not involved…
OH: and how awesome are those teasers? Bet you can’t wait for Part 2…

+1 more for exposure theme.

+ another 1!

From the look of it, I like Exposure too…
23 June 2009 at 8:13 am #
All look awesome. Don’t know what to choose
23 June 2009 at 8:17 am #
Wow, all of the previews look fantastic. Can’t wait to see the full version and probably buy one or two or ten.
23 June 2009 at 8:32 am #
We love the way you’re thinking… “One / Two or Ten”!
Why not just join the WooThemes club?

Interesting that Exposure has gotten two thumbs up already… I’m reading that as you lot want more photoblogging designs? Yes?
23 June 2009 at 9:01 am #
I also am excited about Exposure! SophisticatedFolio also looks promising.

All look neat. But Tim’s is my true passion in waiting
23 June 2009 at 1:23 pm #
Exposure looks really good so far. I know it is still early, but I am very excited to see how it turns out.
24 June 2009 at 1:29 am #
Wow… I’m even more astounded that Exposure is the only concept from above to get such a massive thumbs up. Not that I think it’s not as good as the other themes (I’ve seen the full mockup and it’s awesome); instead I’m just surprised that photoblogging is such a big thing…
I can also say that all 3 of the other themes are looking incredible and that the little teasers you’ve seen above don’t do them justice at all!
You’ll thus have to wait another week or so to preview them in their full glory and awesomeness!

From my pov it’s because I’ve been looking for a theme that can incorporate pictures painted in a portrait format as well as those painted in landscape. From the earlier preview, this lookspossible with this theme; I have an artist waiting for em to do agallery for her!
24 July 2009 at 10:28 am #
We’re definitely hoping to code Exposure as flexible as possible!
24 June 2009 at 1:33 am #
Exposure is gonna rock.
I will be utilizing the new Widget API and make this theme more widget magic than any theme we have ever made.
Super Excited!

Big words & promises there… Especially since this theme hasn’t even gone into development yet… You better deliver now…
25 June 2009 at 4:15 pm #
All of these look great, as usual. I saw in an older post that you were going to make a push for ecommerce and I really like the shop theme by jonikox that won 3rd place. Any news there?
Thanks!
Brian

The StoreTheme by Jonikox is actually with our Magento partners now… So there’s no ETA, but we have been working on that…

Looking forward to seeing the theme.

Backstage! SO looking forward to a Musician theme. This is going to be so awesome.
I hope it has a custom field or something to put links for purchasing (itunes, amazonMP3, CDBaby, personal website) by each album, and a music player.
I love the “Download Free Tracks” bit in the screenshot. Are they going to have to login/register/signup for email list to download?
That would be uber cool as well!
More than one color scheme I assume?
Thanks!
P.S. — Feel free to contact me if you need feedback on it before releasing it, as I am a musician and can help you out with what musicians need for their sites.
17 July 2009 at 3:08 pm #
There’ll definitely be quite a few colour schemes!
And we haven’t figured out all of the functionality just yet. We’re going to have to sit down and brainstorm some ideas to make this theme truly awesome!
18 July 2009 at 3:24 pm #
Sweet. I am so excited. Like I said, I’m more than happy to help out if you need feedback/ideas as I am a musician
Thanks again!

I haven’t even seen the completed design from Tim, but the little bits I’ve seen is looking absolutely fantastic!
24 July 2009 at 9:56 am #
This one is my other big love too! Can’t wait…

The only thing BuddyPress is missing is some WooLove. Just saying.
