These are our Bestsellers

30. Jul, 2009 by Adii Rockstar in Contests

24 hours has passed since we posted yesterday’s “Guess our Bestsellers” competition and it’s about time that we get to announce the winners of some of those Developer themes… :)

First up, nobody could come up with the right guess for our best-selling themes in the last month, so nobody thus got both correct and the free 6 month subscription on offer has thus gone to waste… There are however 6 people who guessed our all-time bestselling themes correctly and we have decided to give each of these people a Developer copy to any of our themes. But before we announce the winners, we need to tell you what the winning combo’s would’ve been…

Best-selling themes in the last 30 days (28 Jun – 28 Jul):

You needed to have these 5 themes in order (and we’ve included another 5 – which you didn’t need of course – to make up the Top 10):

  1. Aperture
  2. The Station
  3. Gazette
  4. Over Easy
  5. Busy Bee
  6. Fresh News
  7. Feature Pitch
  8. Suit and Tie
  9. WooTube
  10. Flash News

Surprised? I think the most intriguing thing to note from the above list, is the fact that some of our older themes (Gazette, Over Easy, Busy Bee etc.) are acting as some kind of flagship themes for us and are still selling really well. Whilst their dominance is being challenged by some of the newer themes (Aperture, The Station), I’d be surprised if these just stopped selling completely anytime soon.

The all-time list obviously makes for even more interesting reading…

All-time Best-selling themes (since 9 July 2008):

These are the 5 themes you needed to have in order (and we’ve included another 5 - which you didn’t need of course – to make up the Top 10):

  1. Fresh News
  2. Busy Bee
  3. Over Easy
  4. Gazette
  5. VibrantCMS
  6. The Station
  7. Open Air
  8. Flash News
  9. Aperture
  10. Fresh Folio

Not so surprised? Many of you actually guessed the Top 5 themes correctly, but couldn’t get it in the correct order… So sorry about that… :) This list however shows you what we’re talking about in terms of “flagship” themes that generally have a much longer-lasting appeal in terms of sales. This is of course evident since the Top 4 all-time bestsellers make an appearance in the list for the last month (whilst VibrantCMS was still in that list if you take sales from 28 May – 28 June).

And then – just before we announce the winners – it’s interesting to note that when looking at all-time sales and measuring the sales amounts vs the age of the theme, the Top 5 fastest-selling themes would be Busy Bee, The Station, Aperture, Over Easy & Fresh News… Interesting huh? I can honestly tell you, that one can get totally caught up in these stats, whilst trying to figure out what they mean… :) So here’s the winners then:

The Winners:

  1. JohnONolan (submission)
  2. Chris Gilbert (submission)
  3. Ahmed (submission)
  4. Mark T (submission)
  5. Phil M (submission)
  6. WP Themes (submission)

Congrats to the six of you. Drop us an e-mail and we’ll hook you up with a free Developer theme…

Also thanks to everyone else that placed a submission. We may try this again in coming months; so study the above figures well until then! :)

Can’t believe THiCK isn’t featured anywhere in those lists, it’s beautiful!

Great stuff. I’m not surprised Gazette is still a best-seller. It’s a great theme.

Really not that suprise the older themes are doing well. coz people are still a little more comfortable with such layouts.

Anywayz guys, i think the latest theme “the big easy” is a let down, could have been better.

How would you have improved Big Easy? Any suggestions that we may be able to implement?

THiCK was in our all-time Top 10 until recently… But the success of The Station & Aperture has knocked it just outside of the Top 10 now.

I think most of the themes in that Top 10 is more multi-purposed, whereas THiCK has more of a niche-focus.

Great post. Just a small point.
I love and use Vibrant CMS – it it’s still in the top 5, wouldn’t it make sense to create a brand-spanking-new SuperWOO version?

Cobus (FRESH01) has actually been tasked to design a follow-up to VibrantCMS, which we’ll be releasing in coming months. The same goes for Gazette, which is getting a bigger brother as well and is being designed by the superb Liam McKay.

Thanks Adii. I’m actually working on 2 seperate Vibrant’s at the moment – so it’s great news but bad timing as I could do with the super-woo vibrant now! Any more detail on a date o rockstar?

We haven’t even started the design process, so earliest release date should be November / December.
