In the last 2 weeks, we’ve been deliberating what to do with WooCamp, because whilst we really think it’s a good idea, we’ve just found the strain of being continuously inspired to publish unique content a bit draining. Well, that and the fact that everyone seems to be suffering from a little information overload and comments on blog posts (not just ours) seems to be waning by the day.
We have thus imported a few of the best posts on WooCamp to the WooThemes blog, where we’ve created a special sub-section for WooCamp content, because we still believe that the content is valuable and it should not go to waste. With this move, we also hope that the content will be more visible and you’ll interact with us on that content a little more than you did on WooCamp!
I think you’ve come to know as a company that continuously tweaks / changes their approach in the hope of staying ahead of the game, so whilst change is generally avoided in our every day lives, we hope that these regular tweaks will greatly improve your WooExperience. If you think we’re being ridiculous, we’d love to hear how we can improve!

I agree, content is good when it’s localized as much as possible. Concentrating on centralizing will take some load off and overall be an improvement the the blogging structure.
The only problem I foresee with localizing & centralizing all of one’s content into one place, is that branding & archiving becomes more complicated. So the easy part of the decision is to take the integrated approach, the harder part of that is to ensure that everything stays as super as before (in the long run).
Don’t you dudes work 2m apart from each other
Nope. Because Fox is kinda odd, we’ve banned him to the little 1.5m x 1.5m server room…
Hahaha! Nice move. Fox what do you have to say about this?
I’m with Fox as well. We are also on a mission to one day localize all our content onto one spot.
So good move dudes.
Good more. I rarely checked Woo Camp, unless I accidentally clicked on a Twitter link. I’m much more likely to check it if it’s integrated into the blog.
Cheers
Alex.
This kinda confirms our thinking in this regard and it is one of the main reasons we’ve decided to integrate the content into our main blog; effectively putting it in front of more eyes.
Centralize, localize, declutterize. It’s all good. We aren’t going anywhere.
And change? It’s what the ‘webs were built for. Evolve, baby. Evolve.
I really liked the WooCamp blog, but do understand the need to integrate everything into one place.
There were a few posts with design tutorials on WooCamp that I can’t find now in the main blog. Would it be possible to import all of the posts from WooCamp rather than a select few?
We’ll consider that, but along with the integration we also need to streamline the type of content we’ve integrated; otherwise this blog will just become supremely bloated.
Thanks, now I just have to search one source to find blog posts I know you published. Last time I was looking for that fresh set of social media icons like a maniac in this blog, when it hit me that there’s a Camp blog somewhere.
Keep on doing former Camp posts, but in this blog instead. When I came around to read the Camp blog, I enjoyed it. Or if you feel that you don’t have the time, just feed us with theme teasers all day
Good move. Not long before, I search for “Woo” hand-drawn icon sets.
“Huh? It’s not on WooThemes?!?” (I use WordPress search function)
Then I realized
“Oh, it’s on WooCamp!” I totally forgot about the camp for a moment.
Yep… You can still get those here & here.
Interesting move…
I actually liked the separation of WooCamp from the main blog. Maybe I’m in the minority, but I’ve always been more interested in the behind the scenes stuff (WooCamp) – business, code, design related content.
I hope you keep that stuff in the mix, either on the Woo blog or your personal blog, Adii.
I hear you and this is probably not an ideal situation, because we can’t turn this blog into a 5 posts / day kinda blog. But we will continue to share the behind-the-scenes stuff, as that has always been our style. I do however think that related content will end up falling away, as I can see how that will only serve to bloat this blog.
I’m just bummed the header got lost. I liked it, lol.
