The #WOOBS Giveaway
07. Oct, 2009 by Adii Rockstar in Contests
Things are starting to heat up over here and the hotness can partly be attributed to our We Love Boobs campaign. In fact, things are getting so hot right now, that even our so-called “competitors” want to join in on the fun.
This may come as a surprise to many of you, but when it comes to competition within the WP community, all of the competitors (in the corporate sense of the word) are very friendly with each other. And as evidence of that awesomeness, Brian Gardner (founder of StudioPress) contacted us with a great idea in support of our We Love Boobs campaign. So here’s the down-low:
The Giveaway
Before we tell you how you can enter this competition / giveaway, here’s what you can win:
- 2 x 3-month Developer Club Subscriptions
- 4 x Developer Package Themes**
- 10 x Standard Package Themes**
- 5 x Awesome WooThemes Ninja T-Shirts
**What makes this even cooler, is the fact that Brian has committed to contributing 50% of the costs of these themes ($650 USD) straight to our We Love Boobs campaign, so that’s another $650 USD that will be going to the awesome organization we’ve identified in aid of breast cancer awareness.
So this is how you win…
Twitter #woobs
To enter this draw, you only need to craft a clever & fun tweet… But we’ve got some “rules”…
- The tweet needs to include the hashtag #woobs; and
- You also need to use the words “twins” or “lollipops” in a fun & creative way.
Here’s an example tweet…
I checked in on the twins today and they look both happy & healthy!
#woobs
We will then randomly select the 19 people who will be winning the 4 Developer Packages, 10 Standard Packages & 5 WooTee’s, whilst the 2 Developer Subscriptions will go to two tweets that we deem to be the most creative! (The most creative tweets would most likely include both the words “twins” and “lollipops”… Just sayin’…)
Get it? Remember that ultimately this campaign is about raising funds & awareness that will benefit the fight against breast cancer. So keep things clean & respect that people have lost loved ones to this horrible disease.
Thanks to all for participating and a big congrats to all of the winners:
- 2 x 3-month Developer Club Subscriptions: @armintalic & @memezacom
- 4 x Developer Package Themes: @chrisschulz, @maikelneris, @jjwright85 & @nanochrome
- 10 x Standard Package Themes: @chrislema, @NineSlashes, @freeideaguy, @jbruwer, @wjkievit, @hqmStudios, @Ms_Krista, @CherieTNola, @oliviabell & @cavneb
- 5 x Awesome WooThemes Ninja T-Shirts: @nuwomb, @SE7ENize, @Japh, @JohnONolan & @JovanPetrovic
If you’re a winner, drop us a mail on info[at]woothemes.com to claim your prize.

It will be interesting to see what you come up with for the prostate cancer campaign you will also be doing I assume. =)
PS
Prostate cancer kills more men than breast cancer kills women but doesn’t even get half the attention. Just so u know.

Hehe fair enough. Obviously we’re not in the position to be responsible for a whole awareness campaign for every disease, but from time to time (like now) we can run something fu & interactive in aid of a specific cause.

I never claimed you were. I just like to push for other cancer forms when the opportunity arise.
You’d be pretty unique if you did similar stuff for prostate cancer =).
Don’t know what the catch phrase should be though.
In Sweden we had a stupid grow a mustache in support campaign lol. But only men grew one which was a little lame.

Not to take away from the toll of prostate cancer AT ALL, but at least according to the 2009 American Cancer Society figures (cancer.org), the number of individuals (and again, this is for the US so I realize it isn’t worldwide, but finding accurate statistics for either cancer worldwide is difficult if not impossible, so this is what I’m using) diagnosed with either prostate or breast cancer is almost exactly the same. However, far more women die of breast cancer than men die of prostate cancer (~27,000 for prostate, ~40,000 for breast cancer), additionally, the five, ten and fifteen year survival rate is far lower for breast cancer than prostate cancer.
One isn’t more important than the other — but the reason that the Breast Cancer Awareness campaign has taken place (and has been so successful in having more women — and younger women, this is very important — to get mammograms) is because the death-rate is higher, the ages of diagnosis are more varied (read: more younger people are diagnosed) and the life-expectancy is lower. In the United States anyway, the awareness issue for getting a prostate exam was never as low as it was for mammograms. Plus, insurance companies haven’t refused to cover prostate exams the way they used to refuse to cover mammograms.
Anyway, that’s all off-topic — great campaign Adii and Team Woo!

You realise that a #woostate or #woopeen hashtag wouldn’t be nearly as cool as #woobs though right?
