Black Friday: 50% Off Promotion

26. Nov, 2009 by Adii Rockstar in Promotions

blackfridayTo celebrate Thanksgiving & subsequently Black Friday with our American & Canadian users (this is also a great “excuse” for ourselves & our international users to get in on this action), we’ve got a mouth-watering promotion to sink your teeth into.

For the next 24-odd hours, we will be giving you a 50% discount on all new club subscription sign-ups. This means that a Standard Subscription will cost you only $62.50 (down from $125) and a Developer Subscription only $100 (down from $200)**.

So if you’ve been hesitant until now, get all 53 of our themes with this great offer. All the cool kids are doing so anyway! :)

** Note: The monthly recurring fees for the Standard & Developer Subscriptions are still $15 & $20 per month respectively.

This offer expires at the end of (Cyber) Monday, 30 November 2009.

I don’t know why I haven’t signed up for this. It’s a better deal than just buying individual themes….. 5 theme purchases later.

Remember that you need to stay subscribed to receive theme updates though :) You get lifetime updates with a theme package.

And we need to know how to add it to our account if we’ve already bought some themes – without having to create a new account

    :)

I just did that, just go to “Add Product” within your account dashboard and scroll down to Club Subscription – WP – … now you can add your subscription of choice.

Just log into your user dashboard and under the “Add Products” tab, find the Standard & Developer Subscription.

Now you’ve got me. I won the first theme, bought the second one and finally realized that I absolutely have to get the dev subscription. Sneaky giveaways and promos ;)
You just can’t beat 20$ for 2 new themes a month and a whole back catalogue of amazing themes, just keep up them coming :)

Wah, I just signed up Monday! Had I known, I’d have waited. How about a free upgrade, or backwards discount. I don’t know what I’d do with the Photoshop files, but I’m getting ready to add some original art to my header.

I really like your themes so far.

I’m seriously disappointed with Woothemes. I wrote to you a while back about a client of ours who we customised a theme for. The client then used the theme on other websites and never paid us. I informed you about this company who is still using the theme for free and uses it to promote his business. BUT Woothemes never bothered to reply OR check out the client!

Since you never replied, I cancelled my account. We were buying themes regularly from you for our clients but we now do not recommend you or use your themes anymore. We paid our licences in good faith and adhered to your copyright.

Since cancelling our account with woothemes I’ve placed orders with other theme providers totalling over $1500.

I’m submitting this on your blog because you never bother to reply to anything else.

I don’t quite understand your issue with WooThemes. It isn’t the end of the world if 1 theme is used on more than 1 site.

So because you select a client who uses a GPL licenced product on more than 1 site (read the licence properly) you’re having a “toys out the pram” moment?

How’s that got anything to do with the fantastic job WooThemes do?

      Some people eh…

      27 November 2009 at 9:34 am #

Stuart – We never let an e-mail go unanswered and I just checked our Gmail account again and couldn’t find a single trace of an e-mail from you. I’m sorry that you feel this way, but unfortunately e-mails sometimes falls by the wayside and they end up in all the wrong places (i.e. not the inbox).

    • Magnus Jepson
      27 November 2009 at 10:59 am #

The GPL license doesn’t put any restrictions on how you or your clients use the theme, so it isn’t something we can or should police.

Most other top theme developers also have GPL license, so we are no different.

This sounds good! Just to make sure I’m getting it right:
    Developer subscription for $100 + $20/month?
    Recurring Payments is not optional?

    • Adii Rockstar
      27 November 2009 at 10:11 am #

Nope – the recurring fee is part of the subscription. Note that theme updates aren’t available if you cancel the subscription (i.e. the monthly recurring fee).

  22. Jeffrey Summers
    27 November 2009 at 11:22 am #

This is a good deal but the problem in discounting for new trial is always the lack of rewards for loyal fans who have purchased at full price and remained loyal throughout. I was a fan and loyal at full price. What’s in this promotion for people like me? What does it tell me about how you value my business and my loyalty vs people who have not purchased at full price and were either waiting for a discount or some other price incentive?

    I’d like to know.

    • Adii Rockstar
      27 November 2009 at 12:49 pm #

This is a very valid concern and one that we take very seriously. I’ll be very frank in responding though; and the truth is ultimately that our backend system makes it impossible for us to reward customer loyalty at the moment.

So whilst that is a lame response in itself (probably), it is one of our growing pains and one that we are working on sorting out.

      • Shawn Boyd
        27 November 2009 at 1:24 pm #

I’ll answer on the behalf of a loyalist. I have for myself and for clients purchased nearly 16 themes at normal 2 for(s) or the occasional 4 for sale. When the black friday promotion came around I had two options… look at the great promotion with angst and buyers remorse about what i’ve already spent or look at the proven track records or Rockstar, Maggie and the rest of the Woo team.

They drop a new theme on us like government scandals, at least 2 to 3 a month. So at the cost of 1 and 1/3 themes take the deal. The value added is bigger than the cost and stress of the complaint.

The most important factor is I want them to stay in business for a long time, They save all of us a metric-sh!t-ton of work. Saving me personally well over the $280 a year developers cost. Yet I was still not going developer subscription until today. Crazy I know.

A customer affinity program would be nice but it is not a deal breaker as they do so much for us now. If you are not getting these results, just charge one client $300 more for his site then you won’t be spending your money and you’ll have nothing to complain about.

Times is running out Nike…”Just Do It”

I’m a loyalist and I’ll answer based on my point of view.

The phrase “time is money” is present every day in my life since I wake up. I subscribed WooThemes some months ago, but could have waited untill today to subscribe and have access to the themes, but I wouldn’t be able to use them untill now. A coice was made. I could just have bookmarked the site & visit it regularly until I found a deal that sounded fair for me and thus saved some bucks — the bucks I invested on getting the themes earlier. So, noticing I could have saved 50% from my subscription fee, I would have wasted a lot of time (that equals money ;) ).

Did I get any reward for being a loyal customer and a fan? Yes, and I’m still being rewarded day after day. The quality support you get on Woo forums is top notch, and also their attention to email messages. If I wasn’t a member, I couldn’t even read the forum posts on a theme before purchasing it. After 12+ years working online, I’m yet to find a better support than I found here. For people like me, it means a lot and shows these guys really value my business.

Just placing things on a balance shows me I’m in a huge advantage by being a member for some months than if I paid todays price.

        just my 2 cents

I’ll bite when you add Drupal themes to your arsenal. I love your themes but at this time, most of my clients want the flexibility of Drupal. This a huge market WooThemes, no one is making good, affordable themes for Drupal!

    Hey Adii.

Wow and this is what I get for being sick with the flu and away from the computer since Thanskgiving!

I would love a hook up with the 50% off deal for the developer package if this is at all possible.

Unfortunately it’s not possible to backdate the offer, but we’ve got some Xmas promotions coming. They won’t be for 50% off, but they will be quite cool too; so maybe be on the look out for that.

    Hello,
I’m not a webdesigner but I’m desperately in need of good themes for some projects I have.
But I live in third world country where dollar’s exchange rate is high.
So if you could do me a favor helping me to get cheaper price i can convince my boss to buy themes from you while at the same time showing to everyone at my place that it’s not that expensive.
I will wait for christmas’s promo, I hope you put my request in consideration.

The reason I write this is because I love your design and I respect copyrights while most people I know are using ripped off themes.
