Everything is just Bueno
25. Nov, 2009 by Adii Rockstar in New Themes

Bueno is Spanish word, roughly translated to “good” or “all right” in English. And that’s exactly why we decided to call our new free theme, Bueno; it is simply awesome (okay, we took some liberties with our word usage there).
We don’t always get around to release as many free themes as we want to (due to time constraints), but when Ajmal Eylia submitted his design to us, we knew that Bueno would make a great addition to WooThemes. So Bueno is our 9th free theme (and our 5th in 2009) and we’re sure that you will really enjoy this one!
Check out the demo over here or have a read through all of Bueno’s awesome features.
PS. We also hope that this release has come as a bit of a surprise, since we broke our normal convention of posting teasers prior to releasing the theme.

I frigging love this theme. Kudos, and thank you!
25 November 2009 at 7:49 pm #
the theme is very nice – but there is a problem: we can’t using the special letters in German like: ü, ö ä and so on. They are simply missing …?
26 November 2009 at 2:20 am #
Mmm… Yeah this is a Cufon problem. We’ll see what we can do about re-packing the Cufon js font file.
27 November 2009 at 5:37 am #
Mmm… All the german Woo fanboys (and girls) see hopeful in this thread to get their special letters back.

You can easily generate a new cufon js file here and include the characters you want: http://cufon.shoqolate.com/generate/
The font used: http://imjustcreative.com/league-gothic-free-open-source-font-download/2009/09/23/
The file to replace: bueno/includes/js/League_Gothic.font.js
12 December 2009 at 8:15 pm #
Hi. I tried that, even changing the font and just renaming it the same when creating the.js file, but nothing changed…. am I doing it wrong?
13 December 2009 at 1:41 pm #
I fond another way to fix the issue, for the web design challenged like myself: if you delete the file bueno/includes/js/ChunkFive.font.js, the font on the titles will change, but now it has accents…. voilà! It still looks good, by the way.
14 December 2009 at 12:53 am #
This actually deletes the Cufon functionality, as it now has no font to reference and thus displays the fallback font.
You would just need to re-compile the Cufon file with your chosen characters included and then re-upload it to its original file position.

Forgot to say: it would be nice if you release themes (both free and paid) without posting teasers before. The “surprise” sensation is awesome AAAND if somebody already have a Club membership, they will even find more value on their package — remember they subscribed because of the current themes & the teasers.

Post titles are not clickable on IE7. I guess this is a cufon bug but a very critical one. Anyone has experienced this problem yet?
4 December 2009 at 6:20 pm #
AH! I just discovered this after about 30 minutes of customizing the theme. Anyone have an idea how to fix?!?!
28 November 2009 at 11:11 am #
Nice theme, but It’s not for me…
28 November 2009 at 11:31 am #
Too bad to hear about those post titles, hope that will be fixed soon! Would love to use it on http://www.tllmn.com, have already been messing a bit with the layout..

Greetings from Belize
I love it so much that I’ve changed over from Daily Edition; but definitely font issues with symbols like: &, ‘,
Not sure about IE 7 links – I demand Firefox, etc, but obviously this is an issue.
Excuse my site, while I still iron-out some flash/image lay-outs

Hey Fellas, I love the new design and seriously want to use it, but you can’t click on any the content in IE7. I thought it might have just been the mods I made, but I went and tested on your demo page and I can’t click on anything under the header nav. I understand that this is a freebie, I’m just surprized that you guys would let something out the door that isn’t cross browser compatible (thought I hate IE as much as the next guy). Love you guys, love your work. Have bought and will continue to buy. Just wish this worked in IE7. Really love it!
4 December 2009 at 6:50 pm #
Thanks for that, we’ll have a look at it and release an update
5 December 2009 at 2:22 pm #
The issue appears to be in the . I simply replaced it with and it worked just fine in IE8, IE7, and FF3.
5 December 2009 at 7:28 pm #
Lost the code… sorry about that. I replaced:
div id=”content” class=”col-full”
with:
div style=”width:950px;margin:0 auto;”
5 December 2009 at 11:22 pm #
hi, what file did you edit?
6 December 2009 at 1:22 am #
index, page template, single post. Basically, anywhere I found that had that div.
7 December 2009 at 4:01 am #
Hi, I’m customizing this theme and I faced the same problem.
To fix it you should edit the IE6 and IE7 css files in the css/ folder. You should change the z-index of #container to 1
7 December 2009 at 7:55 am #
We’ll be releasing a fixed & updated version ASAP.

thank’s man !

LOVE this theme and can’t wait to put it into action. Have bought themes in past, including free themes, without any upload/install problems at all. However, l have tried numerous times to upload to WP and keep getting the same error message:
“The uploaded file could not be moved to /home/jail/home/rickw/www.wittenbraker.com/htdocs/wp-content/uploads/2009/12.”
Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
REW

I had the same exact problem! Ultimately, I just had to use FTP to get the theme into WP.
7 December 2009 at 11:53 am #
Ryan, thanks for the FTP hint. That worked… now I am feeling bueno.
5 December 2009 at 1:14 pm #
I’d like to say great work for the guys at woothemes, I love the bueno theme, and you guys made editing the css so easy!
The down side is, that the beuno theme is completely useless in IE6 and IE7, though it still looks pretty…until it tries to open its mouth…uugghhh…will try to fix this, and will check back for a fix…
8 December 2009 at 2:47 am #
Hi everyone.
The IE issues regarding links not being clickable has been fixed. It was a z-index issues. The theme has been updated and you can download the latest version to receive the updates.

Hi guys,
this is a really cool theme and I’m glad that you offer it for free, I also love the config-things you made possible.
I have one prob with the theme though concerning editing “Pages” it’s not possible I’m afraid neither adding a new “page” out of the dashboard. It works though when changing the theme to others – then I can edit the “page” and add more. I’m using FF 3.5 and the latest WP here.
Thanks for your good work and cheers,
Thom

I ran into a problem with this theme when I enabled comments for a Page using the Default Template. If you select the checkbox “Allow Comments” for the page, then the commment form to submit a comment will appear on the page. When you submit a comment it will not show up. If you look into your comments.php file, you will notice that the line:
is where this is breaking down. Even with 2 comments on the page, this check is failing and not displaying the comments. If I remove the if statement from the page, the comments will display.
This code looks correct when I compare it to other themes that are separating the comments and pings….any idea what might be going on here so I don’t have to comment out the if statement?
Thanks,
Johnny
13 December 2009 at 1:06 pm #
I just noticed the line of code I tried to point out was edited out of my comment.
if ( ! empty($comments_by_type['comment']) ) :
If I comment out that entire If statement, I am able to have the comments display on the page.
Thanks in advance for the help!
Johnny

Unfortunately we can’t provide technical assistance via the blog; please use our support forum instead.
14 December 2009 at 1:06 am #
@Adii
I was only trying to point you to what I thought was bug in the theme in case there was a need to fix it. I have modified the code as a workaround and am able to have to comments display as I wanted.
It is funny though, it seems there is quite a bit of technical discussion going on about the special characters not displaying correctly and the IE incompatibilities. I’ll refrain from helping out in the future.

I have problems converting the Theme to german. It would be nice if someone could help me out with converting the right Fonts. I think its not enough to convert only the file League_Gothic.font.js. I did also a po translation to german but cant use it. How to use this language files? maybe the admins here will add a german version for the page. I will help on translation…
thx for any hint
