Welcome All Delegates

21. Jan, 2010 by Adii Rockstar in New Themes

Delegate

A quick glance of our Theme Leaderboard shows that our business themes are extremely popular with the WooCrowd. With today’s release of Delegate, we’re pretty certain you’ll appreciate this theme.

So as we described Delegate when we first previewed it last year, we wanted a simple, but shiny, new design that could compliment VibrantCMS. We believe that Cobus has done a bang-up job of really building on VibrantCMS’ success, but more importantly modernizing & improving it.

Built on the new WooFramework Version 2, Delegate includes a handful of different page templates and Delegate-specific widgets to create a true business canvas, where you can truly create something that is representative of your business. We’ve tried to include a lot of functionality, without bloating the code, to make Delegate a truly customizable theme. So it’s definitely worth your time to check out this beauty…

Have a look at the demo of Delegate and the nitty-gritty of the features that we have included with this theme.

Do you agree? :)

REMINDER: If you haven’t already purchased a WooThemes Club Subscription by now, we’d like to remind you of the awesome value that comes with the ability to just download our new themes as they become available (at 2 / 3 new themes a month, we’ll also keep you busy). So consider signing up now.

Nice range of colour options but looks like quite a basic theme…

      Basic sells. :)

VibrantCMS wasn’t the most advanced theme either, but it is one of our most popular themes of all time. I think many of our users prefer a sleek looking theme that is super easy to customize. Delegate definitely accomplishes that.

That’s true, from an end client’s requirement perspective, a business template need not be flashy or overly creative.

VibrantCMS yes it was basic but when this theme released the business wordpress themes are new to world so basic theme with new idea sell fast and better but now many themes released in this niche so i don’t think basic theme will sells any more.
I don’t want to be full time negative but i’d like to say my point of view.
        Regards

Coffee Break is pretty basic, but sold like hot cakes :)

While we talking about basic themes. How about Releasing new theme like the one used in your site Or Giving it free like addi did before?? The site design Rocks :-)

          21 January 2010 at 10:44 am #

Yeah, I’m with Maggie on this. We’ve obviously got the sales data to prove it as well.

I understand your point though, but I think this is probably one of the most incorrect perceptions within the WP theming community. Basic & easy-to-customize will always sell over the flashy / complicated stuff.

Yay ! Business. Looks nice and clean. I’ll definitely be using this one.

Is there an option to set the depth of the slider ?

    • Adii Rockstar
      21 January 2010 at 10:43 am #

What do you mean with the “depth of the slider”?

      • downsouth
        21 January 2010 at 11:04 am #

Define the height so it doesn’t bounce up and down depending on the content.

        • Magnus Jepson
          21 January 2010 at 11:21 am #

yes there is an option to turn of auto-height. You can set your height via CSS if you need higher than the default value.

Delegate seems to be as easy as a business theme can get, which means it’s right to the point.
But I do have two complaints(sort of): as I’ve seen all your rocking themes, I can say Delegate’s color schemes, so-called styles, are not done as good as your other works. Colour harmony is not there.
My second point is about the front page slider. It seems to kinda slow and transition between slides does not seem to be smooth.

Don’t want to criticize your work in a negative manner and be snappish, but I feel like I have to speak out and give you some feedbacks.

anyway, you guys are doing a greater job than everyone else in theme development community.

    keep up good work.

      21 January 2010 at 10:21 pm #

I wasn’t going to mention this, but since you’ve brought it up . . .

The “color schemes” are a bit weak – just a few minor tweaks which I think most people could manage themeselves in about five minues. I would have much rather have seen two or three really different and thought-out schemes than the dozen or more almost identical versions.

I specially notice this on the dark themes (white text on dark). There’s rarely a “reversed” option of black on white. Lots of work, but then that’s why they’d be worth having.

I’ve mentioned the idea previously on the forum of users submitting custom colour themes to be added to the theme download as further options. But one of the mods said that the “showdown” series covered that ?!

      Woo knows best.

Been looking forward to this theme for a while and looks great, congrats.

Since you’re so cool with feedback, I’ll just mention a few observations:

    - You seemed quite definite in earlier comments it would have a vCard, it doesn’t :( Would it be easy to for users to add themselves?

The address format at top right of this page seems a modern intuitive way to present contact details for a business site: http://www.headscape.co.uk/ – an address sectiondesign that blends in with a skype button would be nice.

    - Photoshop work around the very edges of the call to action buttons could be polished up ever so slightly, but maybe it’s just my eyes if you can’t see that.

    - I thought a big clear RSS logo on the blog pages you have maintained through previous themes was a nice touch.

    - I love the light coloured text boxes in the blog by the way. I can’t decide if I like this more than coffee break.

    - It’s true that the slider doesn’t see to run quite as smoothly as CB, but I image this can be amended at he back end?

    - Just got to say, the design of your drop down menus have massively improved with last two business themes compared to coffee break. CB ones didn’t do justice to the amazing sleek design.

    - There is a version that has mid yellow text on mid gray in the footer, and is completely illegible – would mean tweaking it in CSS, no probs for me but maybe would be for others that want something that works out of the box.

This is still prob my 2nd or third page theme even if I sound bitchy, and Woothemes make all the best themes :)

    • Magnus Jepson
      23 January 2010 at 9:09 am #

      Thanks for the feedback!

      - The call to action buttons are CSS3, which display a bit differently depending on which browser you use. I know chrome doesn’t look as good as FF, Safari.

      - The slider is a bit choppy on my FF, but super smooth in IE, chrome and SAfari… think it’s down to your browser.

I’ll forward the other points to Cobus so he can look into improving the theme :)

Sorry, meant to write at the end “This is still prob my 2nd or 3rd FAVOURATE theme even if I sound bitchy, and Woothemes make all the best themes! :)

I really like that there are links at the bottom of the slider so that you can go direct to pages or slide through them. I think that is great as it offers an alternative to coffee break. The more business themes the better and no body builds business themes as well as woothemes I believe.

While we are all giving suggestions I will throw a few in to the mix but I would not really change Delegate as its great but a perfect theme for me would be to take the attractiveness of Optimize (This is my favorite theme) and incorporate an inner page for a portfolio with the Delegate or Coffee Break Slider. If it was possible to still keep the Optimize lightbox images on the homepage though as I really like them to. So in other words Optimize with a portfolio slider as I think sliders are excellent for portfolios.

Great job with Delegate by the way. I will certainly be able to find a use for this theme.

Hate to seem like a naysayer, but the slider is a massive CPU hog. Firefox hates it and even on IE the action is jerky. Even the dropdowns each lots of cycles.

    What’s up with that ?

    • Magnus Jepson
      24 January 2010 at 4:39 am #

Its a bit choppy on my FF, but super smooth on IE and every other browser…

      • downsouth
        24 January 2010 at 4:43 am #

Maybe on a quadcore, but my P4 test machine hits 100%.

In any case it’s certainly not as smooth as CoffeeBreak or your other themes. Is someone going to tweak the code ?

        • Magnus Jepson
          24 January 2010 at 4:54 am #

are you testing on our demo? It’s probably the video in second slider. The only difference in the code is the extra navigation beneath, but it’s the same loopedslider.js

          • downsouth
            24 January 2010 at 6:38 am #

Yep, the video page is the real killer. It dies in FF3 & IE8. Funny thing is that when the video panel is up and loaded even the drop-down submenus are sluggish.

    Hey Guys,
The comments on ‘Testing the elements’ by Jepson saying ‘This is another threaded comment’ shows the theme doesn’t support threaded comments means doesn’t shows like a sub or reply eh?

    • Magnus Jepson
      24 January 2010 at 12:18 pm #

Hold your horses! Of course it supports threaded comments! :)

I just forgot to activate it in WP demo ;)

lol, that was the only thing I didn’t like about Delegate since the first time I saw the teaser. Thank GOD it supports Threaded comments, haha :D
