We realize that we’ve been “tinkering” with our theme releases as of late, and as a result it may have seemed like we have been in an overly experimental mood. Whilst that holds some truth (we are definitely exploring new niches), we can assure you all that our next few releases will be much closer to our tried & tested methods which have resulted in all your favourite themes being best-sellers.
This means that you can soon expect some more business, portfolio, blog etc. themes from us again. In fact, we have these two beauties; both going out to beta in the next day or two. Boast (the first teaser below) is a business + portfolio type design, whilst Diarise (more of a niche release) will surprise many of you with it’s amazingly, unique functionality… Check out the teasers…

The next release though, will be another tumblog-type theme that is a slightly adapted version of Woo on the Slopes. You can expect this new theme – called Retreat – by Wednesday.

looks awesome
Woo themes never ceases to amaze with the variety of niches each theme is capable of being used for. The showcase is a perfect example. Eventhough woo has about 6 main theme categories each theme could and in most cased used outside of the original scope of theme. Not many theme companies provide this ability from a simplistic stand point that woo themes does.
wow, just waiting for it!
are you guys looking for any Toronto Partner?
They look awesome. Looking forward to trying them out!
Will Woothemes be releasing this theme? http://fresh01.co.za If yes, when?
I am curious about that, too.
No that is the personal design of Cobus’s blog, and won’t be a theme.
Ah, okay, thanks. I thought it was a demo for a theme.
Would be good to see all of the Woo Widgets/plugins integrated across all your themes…
Most of them are integrated across all themes now, except the theme specific widgets
I would pay extra to have the woo video widget put in the Postcards theme. I love all your work, but I am still baffled why there is no video widget in a travel theme? 50% of my documentation while abroad is via video.
Well well well…the top 3 three all-time best selling Woothemes are Magazine/News themes.
The defense rests our case and the court finds that the most equitable action for all parties would be for Woothemes to offer additional killer news/magazine themes : )
You want more even more magazine themes?
Not just magazine themes….NEWS magazine themes. We need a theme that gives us the ability to provide hard news headlines as well as glossy magazine articles and multimedia.

http://www.cnn.com
YES! YES! YES!
…
but i have one specifically in mind
i am looking for a good news aggregator theme, like Alltop or Popurls. what is missing in existing themes is customization the way only WooThemes can do it!
the “Aggregator” theme works, but adding almost any standard widget breaks it (see http://www.fruitsoflife.ca ) … it would be nice to place a slider widget between the first and second row.
I love how, after TWO YEARS…. Gazette is still killin’ it in the top 5.
Yeah it’s quite amazing… Gazette was never top of the class, but has been a steady performer since day one, and now it’s outperforming the great Fresh News as well
Wait… isn’t there an iPhone app coming soon, too? (for these tumblog themes)
yep it’s still in testing phase though… but it’s looking great!
For me, business themes for WordPress is where it’s at. The Woo flow has been so thin lately that I’ve started buying again at ThemeForest, so your announcement is good news
Our sales would suggest that the “flow” is stronger than ever.
I have to be honest that I to have had a look at themeforest recently as there have been so many niche releases recently. I understand that this is what a lot of people want but I would have thought a lot of people still want the regular themes. I have just seen the latest release and looks good but it is another tumblog. I do have to agree that for the standard themes the releases have been thin recently and listening to comments like the one from downsouth would probably be better than just saying it does not matter as sales are good. I still think woothemes are great but I do understand how downsouth feels and think it was a fair point to make.
I totally agree (as I do with downsouth) and as noted in this post, we have been exploring & experimenting with niches more than we have worked on the “standard” stuff. During this time of exploration we still had the same capacity as before though, which meant that the only way we could do it was to spend more time experimenting than releasing standard blog / business / magazine themes. In the next 3 month stretch though, you should see that imbalance shifting back in favour of the standard again.
And we definitely listen to everyone’s comments and thus also downsouth’s. I’ve just learned that overly opinionated (i.e. those that are based on assumptions) comments and that sometimes the only way to re-buff those is by stating pure facts.
During this time of experimentation, WooThemes has continued to grow with immense momentum; so I can understand that some users would prefer us to release only business & magazine themes, but others love us for the niches we have explored.
This is thus what you need to take away from all of this: It’s darn hard pleasing all of our users, but we’re trying our best!
Awesome news.
I’m particularly waiting for Retreat.
keep up good work wooteam.
Hi,
Is Diarise a theme for events ? (with Speakers, Schedule, Venue & Contact, Sign Up …)
I’m very exited to know …I wait for this as soon as
It might very well be something along those lines
Yes ! (The arms in the air
Florent, You might be interested in what I did for a conference using the Delegate theme:

I used the Advanced Registration plugin to handle the registration payments.

Hi Jay,
Thanks for the exemple and this plugin
I will test it and others
Very excited about the event organizing theme. Can you send me an email with more details.
You are also updating canvas right with featured section and more hooks? That would make it the perfect theme
Would love if you would offer a better smartphone/iphone theme, something along the likes of http://www.tweakers.mobi
Yeah Canvas update is in the works although a bit delayed
Will try to wrap it up after easter.
Canvas looks superb – what’s coming for V2?
You guys keep tempting me with new themes, just stop, won’t you?
I’ve got a few custom page templates (magazine, business and maybe more) with optional jQuery sliders, and maybe some other stuff.
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaa ….. Just 2 cooooool!
Magnus, would you mind you providing a rough timeframe on when the magazine theme you’re referring to might be released? We have a very pressing update required for our news magazine site. I’ve identified several theme options for this but would love to use a Wootheme product for the first time.
Many thanks.
After Easter
I’ve enjoyed the niche sites and hope Woo continues to dabble. As I said about City Guide (which goes for Postcard, too). These niche themes can make YOU money. Open your mind and think extreme niche.
Hi,
Have you a date for the Diarise theme sales ? Thanks
A French Fan
It will be released this month
any update on eta?
Which theme are you referring to? Boast is going out today and Diarise will be out next week.
Can you guys add the email capability to your feedburner so that I can get emails whenever you make a new post? Thanks
Also Im not sure if this is the right post, but if your looking for insight on any new ideas for themes… i would love to see what you guys would come up with for a Finance/Investments theme or Real Estate theme. Currently Im using Headlines for two sites (www.nakedhedgefund.com http://www.mrplob.com) , but Im sure your creative juices would come up with something that would attract a lot of customers looking for themes in those fields of business.
We’ll consider adding Feedburner via e-mail, not sure that this is a popular request though…
And we are actually working on a Real Estate theme at the moment.
What would you suggest in terms of Finance / Investments?
I jotted down some features that would be cool:
1. a calendar widget incorporated that shows a month long calendar in the sidebar with notes on specific dates that pertain to upcoming economic/financial data releases.. so visitors can quickly see upcoming important dates and check in regularly.
2. a widget incorporated that shows my current positions (in terms of stocks) and dynamically updates with the performance by tying into an stock price api such as google finance or yahoo finance.
3. To take #2 a step further and have the widget allow you to put in your purchase price of the stock and track/display the performance that you have had with that particular stock since the purchase date to present.
4. To take #2 & #3 even further would be a widget that shows a chart of your performance of your entire portfolio over a specified period of time… this would also dynamically update with the stock price api. There is a site that I have used ( stockalicious.com ) that has something like this for reference.
5. A widget that shows just the general stock market data dynamically. sanebull.com has widgets to this effect for reference.
Design wise it would be a magazine type of theme an example would be http://www.businessinsider.com/ although Im sure you guys could make it a lot cleaner than their cluttered site.
Thanks for listening and let me know any questions.
Adii,
With regards to the Feedburner email setup its just a 5 minute setup in your feedburner account under the “publicize” tab then email subscriptions.
It would be convenient to get an email when you guys have a new post.
Thanks!
Nick
