We have had a lot of people request some extra functionality in Canvas, and we promised to deliver on some of the requests. After a bit of a delay, we can now finally show you a couple cool new features that will add an extra layer to this popular theme.
Magazine Page Template & Business Page Template
The two major updates in this version are the custom page templates. You can now add a magazine (view demo) or business (view demo) page template to your Canvas theme.
Both page templates have a featured jQuery slider, that can show posts or pages. The slider on the magazine template shows posts which have been marked with a tag, and the business template shows pages that you have setup in the options. Here is a screencast previewing the new templates:
We hope you enjoy this update, and let us know how we can improve this theme even more in the future!

Oh yea, very nice.
yon naman!
ah, excellent!
Wow, /REALLY/ great update! You guys rock!
Excellent work, I was waiting for this!
But, just downloaded it after deleting v.1
cant find the new layouts at all and when i go to edit anything no matter what I click on it just gives me the style.css.
bug with me (it seems to remember all my old settings even though I deleteled it) or bug with theme?!
Just a heads up…
Regards
Not sure I understand what you mean. You need to check the documentation on how to add the page templates. If you still can’t figure it out, please post in the forum and we’ll help you out.
ill have a go with the page template thingy (all videos are pretty much blocked though in China btw)
can’t change anything on theme-editor (.php files) and only with canvas theme though… sure you’ll here about it soon enough if its not just me!
I’ll head over to support in the mean time.
Cheers for the quick response
sven
I can’t edit via the editor either. Will look into it!
Found a bug in includes/theme-widgets.php that messed with the theme-editor in WP. Updated the theme with a fix now, so just download and replace
Thanks for spotting it!
cannot see the themes to change (business, magazine…). Had installed v1 before.??
Not sure what you mean… If you are having trouble it’s best to post in our forum so we can better help you.
Nice. I’ve recently just loaded up canvas on my website that I want to use for helping people with design, newsletters and building online presence.
Those updates are pretty awesome. I use thesis and I’ve learned how to do this type of stuff with the theme, but this makes it so easy. Beyond easy. So many people would benefit from this and the amazing woo-widgets that come with it too.
Worth the wait! Can’t wait to explore V2.
I bought Canvas 1.0 last week and was just thinking it would be nice to have a mag style template. I feel like I won the lottery with this upgrade. WOO!
A links page template would be nice too.
Thanks guys.
Great! E-mail us some info on what a links template would look like, and we might include it in a future update.
Wonderful ! Just what the theme needs to round it out
I’ve recently heavily modified a canvas site (with a custom slider!), should I be able to export the current settings and import them into version 2 alright ?
Export/import of settings should work yes
Awesome, I’m concerned to buy the single package for the lifetime updates
I was pleased with Canvas 1, but now you’ve updated it with the magazine-style front page option and the slider, it’s nothing short of brilliant.
If anyone wants to see how I’ve used it, it’s at http://www.templeofipad.com/.
I’m particularly pleased with the clean design, the flexibility of the layout/typography and the speed.
Great work guys!
Mike.
P.S. I see lots of SEO options in the latest framework. I have All in one SEO currently installed, so I will look at what the Woo framework can do as a replacement.
Having looked at your SEO options and seen the output, I now don’t need any SEO plugins.
You should make something of this – some other themes use their SEO as a big selling point.
We will market it a bit more, as soon as WooFramework 2.7.0 is deployed to other themes
Great site you got there
the changelog says 2.0.3
Version to download is 2.0.2
refresh?
latest version is 2.0.4
This is a nice Theme
Brilliant! Keep up the great work
Will this be on the test MU site any time soon? Thanks!
deployed it now
This update may very well have sealed the deal for me. I’ve been contemplating buying a Woo Theme and I think this new Canvas theme is going to be the one for me for a site redesign. The other is Magnus…I just like Norwegians.
Thanks!
Heia Norge!
Ha. Thanks. Keep up the good work!
Hey Magnus,
The playground still has old canvas 2.0.5, can you update that for us please
We would love to play around and then buy this awesome theme for our trousseau packing site! we were using mortar, but now need to get more handy with customisations http://studioprerna.com
Cheers
Prerna
2.0.5 is the newest version!
But I am unable to see the magazine and business templates. Either #iamstupid or #blind
You need to add the page first and select Business or Magazine page template in Attributes. Options will then become visible.
Thanks for clearing my doubts and ensuring I look down upon myself. Cheers man.
Hey.. really a nice theme.
hey ,how can i from 1.02 upgrade to 2.0.4??
Simply download the new version from your user dashboard.
This is sooo awesome! Bigg kiss to you Woo! :=))
Canvas for EE in the works?
Not quite yet, but hopefully in the near future.
I hope so! I think this is an essential theme every platform should have!! Don’t let the EEusers go without
Just looking at the sales stats for this theme……. its on fire!
climbing the the all time sales leaderboard at at rapid rate aswell.
taking this into consideration is this theme like to receive more and more updates and modifications of the latest features and tricks?
I really really really hope so.
We always consider all new feature requests, whilst being careful not to bloat the theme. At this stage there are no to-do’s waiting to be added to Canvas.
I’ve always been a fan of the fade in/out effect over the slide in and out…gives it a much smoother and sleeker look… would be great if you could add that in to the next one?
p.s your last post seems “6th april 2010″ to be doing something strange and moving itself to the bottom of the discussion!
Hey there! This theme looks terrific. Can someone help me decide between Canvas, Thesis, Thematic, Carrington and other similar looking themes or what they call frameworks, eh?
Please help – Need to buy today
Thanks in advance,
Josh
