Our Setup

by Adii Rockstar in WooThemes News

Those following us on Twitter would know that we switched our servers to VPS.net a few weeks ago, so we thought whilst we’re chilling with @snickn at DIBI this week, we’d share the details of the setup we’re currently running.

So very quickly, this is what is powering WooThemes at the moment:

Dunno if you have noticed, but the site is lightning fast and more stable than ever before. So if you’re considering getting new hosting, you can most definitely consider these guys!

*These were customized & optimized specifically for our needs by @snickn and the VPS.net crew.

How do you have your 24 nodes set up? Are they one big server, or do you have them setup as distinct servers. (e.g. a separate VM as the database server)

As long big server – although moving to FusionIO for their database is definitely being looked at.

Sounds great, thanks for sharing, a few more details please?

    * Are you using UK zones or US zones?

    * Which OS, distro, web server are you using for better performance?

    Thanks…

      Hello.

Woothemes is in the US (Atlanta) cloud. They are using CentOS with cPanel and Litespeed as their webserver.

I would guess that W3 has really improved the site loads, given it will cache just about all of it.

    I’d be really interested to understand the following;

    1. W3 settings – memcache used?
    2. CDN, are you using the CDN function through W3?

      Hi,

I’ll answer those questions for you :)

Woothemes is not using memcached, instead using APC. They are using the CDN feature through W3 TotalCache.

      Thanks!

Great info! We’ll be looking at VPS.net for our own needs soon. The cloud hosting and CDN integration look great.

Hi Guys – Can you please give a rundown of what VPS.net config (not nodes) you used?
