WP 3.0 & Menu’s

13

by Adii Rockstar in Development

As you all should now by know: WordPress 3.0 was finally released at the end of last week.

So this is a quick note to tell you all, that all our themes are already WP 3.0 compatible and there’s no need for you to upgrade your theme. This also means that you can happily upgrade to the new version of WordPress, without any hassles from a WooThemes-side (even though we’d suggest checking plugin compatibility).

Further more – as noted here – you are now able to use the native WordPress Menus functionality instead of the WooNav, if you so wish. To start using WordPress Menu’s simply activate them from the Appearance > Menus tab, and it will replace the WooNav functionality (note: you will need to re-create your menu if you switch).**

Lastly, you can expect some new themes from us in the near future which will be using some of the other new features in WP 3.0; more specifically custom post types which we plan on using in a very unique way… :)

** You will need to grab the latest version of the theme from your dashboard to enable this.

You guys rock. Are you going to be updating old themes to use Post Types and Taxonomies?

Probably not, as those things already work perfectly fine without those features. :)

        Yes, they do work perfectly.

I just wanted to do some tweaks and wanted to make sure I wasn’t going to do double work in the next few weeks.

Tumblog themes maybe? I think it would be nice if you switch from custom_field to custom taxonomy and category to custom post type :)

This is such a great resource that you are providing and you give it away for free. I enjoy seeing websites that understand the value of providing a prime resource for free. I truly loved reading your post.
    Thanks!

    Thanks for the quick update!

I can’t get the 3.0 menu to recognize a link’s class (RSS) for special styling. Doesn’t look like it’s possible yet. Correct? (Using Bueno)

Also, a heads up. Next time you update Bueno, consider including the new ChunkFive font file. They expanded it to include accents and a bunch of other missing characters last month.

Thanks for staying on top of this guys. Your theme was the only one of my themes that did not have issues when upgrading to WP 3.0.
