The second theme release for this month is a magazine theme that doubles as a business theme, and triples as a portfolio theme. It’s flexibilty lies in it’s modular design and it’s ability to highlight multiple authors blog posts and portfolio items efficiently.
With so many cowork spaces popping up all over the world, creating affordable, shared work environments for freelancers we thought it only fitting to provide them with a theme that helps sell the space, and the people who use it better.
For me it was great to get back into Photoshop and to finally design something again, after spending the vast majority of my time over the last few months managing the workflow of our theme designs/developments with the recent increase in the size of our team.
Teamster Features
Getting the balance right between the amount of features, and making sure there is no feature bloat is an important factor when we build themes. We feel we’ve done this well with Teamster.
The homepage author module
The author module on the homepage is an AJAX powered tabber that displays all your WordPress contributors, editors and administrators, with the option to hide certain users. Once you select an author to display it will load their latest blog posts, portfolio items or a combination of the two. We’ve built additional fields into the author profile in the WordPress backend to capture a short biography about the user, their Twitter, Facebook and Dribbble links and their role within the company/CoWork setup.
The team custom page template
Further advancing the author module we have a custom page template you can dedicate in your WordPress site – the team page. The team page showcases all the WordPress authors blog posts and portfolio items, and you can navigate to each author’s profile page.
Author blog archive pages functions the same way.
The homepage featured post tabber
The homepage featured post tabber is a largely graphical showcase of particular blog posts, tagged with a specific tag. A hover effect on the tabs displays further information about the author.
And all the rest
There is an about/connect module reserved for the homepage, a homepage module sorter theme option, a dedicated portfolio overview page, and individual portfolio item pages, as well as specially styled custom widgets, and not to forget the alternate styles and easily customizable look and feel.

Holy Cow! This is awesome. I was just looking for something like this.
There seems to be some issues with Contact Us, Archives, Tags styling on the Demo. Using FF 7.0.1. Ok in Chrome. Seems the footer aligning in Sidebar.

Try to refresh the browser (CTRL + R or CMD + R). Looks good to me!

I do like the featured post and author modules. It’d be great to have those available in Canvas. I’m trying to modify Canvas for a magazine site and this would be great!
Depending on the uptake and the demand we’ll think about adding a team template to Canvas. First we’ll test the waters with Teamster.

Just when you thought magazine themes had hit a dry spell, this amazing refresher pops up. Fantastic job guys, I can definitely see this being an excellent platform for a community-powered blog.
Say, any chance it could support multisite, e.g. supporting blog posts from both example.com/blog as well as community.example.com/blog.

Magazine theme again what the world does not need. you can not even publish a reasonable Magazine theme offers classical and one without too great slider. The home page is now so forth and nothing in the articles directly, there is nothing new. The creativity is really with you on the track …

Umm, this is a very unique theme… I couldn’t spot anything else around the web that looks / works in a similar way!?
I really love this theme–the uniqueness, the quality of design… everything. One of the first in a long time (besides the WooCommerce themes) that really stands out from the crowd for me.
It’d be awesome to see some of the same innovative design concepts applied to a more standard magazine-type site, as putting so much emphasis on the authors–while obviously the point of this theme–is quite limiting in terms of content and site direction.

Great looking unique theme, and even though I have no use for it, I’m sure others will. So glad I made the switch to WOO cuz you guys really ROCK! You blow all the other “frameworks” out the water, seriously…

Really liking the look of this one – just playing around with it on a test site though and noticed that there’s no page-template for links/bookmarks included?
Of course it’s easy enough to add one in a child theme, but it seems like an oversight.
We don’t have such a page template for any of our themes, as it’s probably easier and more efficient to use the “Links” widget, and place it in either the footer or sidebar.
OK, I’m misremembering because it’s been a frequent client request, especially for big group blogs who tend to have a very large blogroll which takes up too much widget real estate if that’s the only option.
I nearly always add a template-links page to child themes that I build for clients. It works well in conjunction with a random-blogroll-10 widget for a widget-area. Just seems that for this sort of project in particular it would work well.
If I were to go live using this theme I’d also be having the author thumbnail links on the front page use the display-name slug rather than the author-ID slug, seeing as the rest of the site would be using pretty permalinks.
One question. The Archive part of the footer in the demo. Is it a custom widget and how does it look with a year that is full of months? Does it simply drop down as displayed in groups of three or how does it look?
And wow, that team page is wonderful. Any chance of it getting it´s own template that you can incorporate into any theme?

Can this theme be used for a personal blog instead of using multiple authors?
Is there a way to change the layout and menu to accommodate this?
You can deactivate the author scroller, apart from that, it should work properly.
