WooCommerce: 30-Day Update, V1.1.3 Release, Piggy Integration & More Payment Extensions

Phew. That title was a mouthful.

It is exactly a month since we launched WooCommerce V1.0 and a lot has happened in that month:

  • WooCommerce has continued to gain a lot of traction within the WooCommunity (and great WordPress community), which has seen the plugin been downloaded almost 14 000 times already.
  • We’ve released 4 parent themes and 6 child themes for WooCommerce already. The stunning – and freeWootique has already amassed almost 6000 downloads by itself.
  • In addition to the themes, we’ve released 20 extensions to WooCommerce, which further builds on the functionality in the plugin. We now support multiple payment gateways too, which supports our vision of democratizing WooCommerce as much as possible.

With all of that in mind, we’re kicking off the next 30 days with a new version of WooCommerce and a couple of other goodies. Here we go with the details…

WooCommerce Version 1.1.3

The core WooCommerce plugin remains our biggest focus at present and we’ve been hard at work to add new features, fix bugs or just improve the things that we already had in there.

Here’s a couple of the changes in the new version:

  • Improved Force SSL Setting – now forces https urls for enqueued scripts and styles
  • Support for localisations in wp-content/languages/woocommerce
  • Added product % discount coupons
  • Added ability to change email template colors and from name/address from the settings panel
  • Given shop_manager role capabilities of an editor
  • Added 2 new localisations
  • Lots of other minor fixes and improvements

New & Updated Extensions

As mentioned above, we’re really focused on making WooCommerce compatible with as many payment gateways as possible, because we believe that this will democratize WooCommerce across any demographic. So we’re adding payment gateway support for Google Checkout & Cardsave today, which adds 2 more options along with the 12 other gateways which we already support.

Our very popular Table Rate Shipping extension has also received an major upgrade. The extension now supports comma-separated postcodes, postcode exclusion and the country selector has had a major performance optimization.

Piggy Integration

Piggy is an awesome, mobile web app that taps straight into WooCommerce and gives you your latest sales data on your mobile in real-time. And on top of that, the app is sexy as hell. :)

Here’s a great little overview video, showing Piggy in use:

What’s Next?

We’re running full steam ahead and you can expect a couple more blog posts like this in the next couple of weeks. We’re pushing WooCommerce hard and want to gain as much traction as quickly as possible. Here’s two ways in which you can help us at this stage:

  • Add feature requests or ideas for new extensions to our WooIdeas forum & have your friends (or whoever) vote for them. We’re prioritizing everything according to popularity. ;)
  • We’d like to invite 3rd party plugin developers to get in touch with us and get involved with some core WooCommerce contributions or the development of new extensions. If you’re keen on either of these, get in touch with us.

Beyond that, we’re always in the comments on the blog or on the forum and we’re happy to discuss anything about WooCommerce with you.

    Hi guys.

Just started plying with woocommerce and it does look really flexible!

I was wondering if it it possible to have a product that is both downloadable and physical, each with a separate price? Im thinking of an ebook/book scenario.

Can it be done and how?

    Thanks

Well this is frustrating. Are you having issues with subscription payments?? Because I’ve been locked out and it says I have no active subscription. Very inconvenient :( I have emailed and I really hope this will be sorted asap.
