Bringing WooAwesomeness to Non-Profits

We’ve been wanting to release a theme specifically for charities & non-profit organizations for ages, but in the past we’ve just not been able to prioritize time to do this. Plus we’ve always known that any of our other themes (especially our business themes) could be adapted and use for this purpose. Yet somehow this just sit right with us and then we got the opportunity recently to work with the incredibly talented Matthew Smith on a new design.

Matthew’s portfolio just lent itself perfectly to this charity / non-profit design that we had in mind and within only a couple of days of working with Matthew, he beautifully finished a design which is now available as Saving Grace.

The visually striking homepage design is geared towards getting you donations

Kill The Spill

Kill The Spill

In the past couple of weeks, the world has been hit by the devastating news of BP’s oil spill in the Mexican Gulf. Whilst this hasn’t affected a lot of us directly (just as a result of our geographical locations), we can all agree that this is a massive man-made disaster that needs to be fixed.

Considering that this disaster has been playing out over the last month – with BP pumping thousands of gallons of oil into the Mexican Gulf – both the animals and sealife have been greatly affected by this. These shocking images posted on The Big Picture recently seem to show just how much devastation this disaster has created.

So we’ve teamed up with 3 amazing companies – MetaLab, Squarespace & CampaignMonitor – to assist with the restoration of wildlife in the area: Kill The Spill is a new initiative from the 3 companies and it hopes to generate funds that will be donated to the National Wildlife Foundation.

The 4 companies involved have also committed to match every dollar donated by the public (to a limit of $35 000), to show that we are serious about helping out. So if you’d like to help out to, jump over to Kill The Spill and make a donation.

The Rockstar Foundation: Giving Back

by Mark Forrester in WooThemes News

rockstarfoundationA few months ago, Adii started talking about a new charitable organization that he wanted to create that would benefit amazingly talented, yet underprivileged young girls (through educational opportunities, love & great support structures) in South Africa. Last week, the dream took another step closer to formalizing when Adii & his team launched The Rockstar Foundation.

In October, we managed to raise more than $5k for breast cancer awareness. But going forward, we’ve decided we’d like to be more involved in helping worthy causes. So we’re teaming up with The Rockstar Foundation, where we will be sponsoring all of their general overheads & day-to-day expenditure on a monthly basis.

#WOOBS Raises $5k for Charity

woobs_enderWOW! October ended on such a high for us and we’re super-grateful to everyone that supported us throughout the month; whether it be in tweeting #woobs, sharing our breast cancer campaign link with friends, or buying some of our themes during our end-of-month 4-for-1 special.

In the end though, this wasn’t about us, our celebrations, or our unique marketing campaign. Nope, it was all about raising money for a worthy charity in the aid of global breast cancer awareness.

So it’s with pride today that we get to announce that our selected charity – Breast Buddies – will soon be receiving a cheque for a whopping $5330.00 USD. We’re hoping to meet up with them soon and will post some pictures when we do.

In the meantime, please accept a sincere thanks from our side in making this a wonderful & successful campaign. We’d also like to make special mention of Brian Gardner who helped with & sponsored the #woobs giveaway. Hoping we can count on all of your support again in future! :)

Since October is the international breast cancer awareness month, we’ve decided to pinkify WooThemes a little in the aid of creating more awareness around this terrible disease. You can find all the information about our promotional campaign over here.

This is only the start of the campaign and we’ve got a few things planned throughout the month to really make it a fun, interactive, but ultimately a worthy experience for all involved. So we hope we can count on your support to make it a truly smashing month?
