Breathing even more life into WooCommerce

by Mark Forrester in New Themes

So 2012 has finally arrived and we are getting back into the swing of things at the speed of Woo…

Shelflife is our first 2012 theme, designed and developed in-house by the talented Mr Cobus Bester, a.k.a. Fresh01. Shelflife is a clean, e-commerce focussed theme with a homepage dedicated to featured, popular and recent products with dedicated spaces for mini-features and promotions powered by their own custom post types, as well as a widgetized sidebar and footer regions. Think of it as a hybrid business and e-commerce theme where your products can be as much or as little a focus as you desire with a dedicated shop page available too.

Editorial Case Study

10

by Cobus Bester in Blog, Development

We recently released Editorial, a magazine theme that aims to mimic familiar features of traditional print media, like newspapers and magazines. This post takes a look at the thought process that went into designing Editorial, and the implementation and development of some of those ideas.

Editorial’s design is very much inspired by traditional newspaper layouts, focusing on the content. The center aligned header, slightly textured background, strong sans-serif headlines, serif body copy and drop-caps all help to give the design a more traditional aesthetic. But the theme’s real strong point, the feature that sets it apart from other magazine themes, is it’s single post layouts. Users have the option to choose from a number of different columnized post content layouts, allowing each post to be styled uniquely.

We’ve been speaking about tumblogs for quite a while now, so it’s exciting to finally be able to release the two beautiful tumblog themes that are the fruits of our labour. Without keeping you waiting any longer, we’d like to introduce you to the awesomeness of Cinch & Slanted.

Another Tumbling Teaser

24

by Adii Rockstar in Development

Since we’re getting closer to releasing our two new tumblog themes towards the end of the month, we wanted to keep the momentum and hype going with another little teaser.

When we teased you with these previews a week ago, we mentioned that the themes would include some jQuery wizardry, as well as progressive usage of CSS3. To give you an idea of what we’re talking about, you can view Cobus’ new design which he launched over the weekend.

We’d like to think that considering that Cobus designed both Cinch & Slanted and that since he’s responsible for the front-end coding, you can expect some similar awesomeness from our tumblog themes. So click around his new site and start anticipating the awesome that we will be releasing soon.

Tumbling Teasers

We have been working on our tumblog themes for quite a while now and the only reason that we haven’t produced something more concrete until now, is because we wanted to make sure that the themes would be truly groundbreaking in every single aspect thereof.

So this is the first preview of our first two tumblog themes – Cinch & Slanted. Both were designed by Cobus and will feature amazing jQuery wizardry and some CSS3 advancements (for those cool kids that know all about using superior browsers). In the backend we’re also planning a few surprises that we hope to get as close to a proper Tumblr-style tumblog experience as possible.

Both themes should be ready later this month, but for now these teasers will have to keep you satisfied…

Welcome All Delegates

Delegate

A quick glance of our Theme Leaderboard shows that our business themes are extremely popular with the WooCrowd. With today’s release of Delegate, we’re pretty certain you’ll appreciate this theme.

So as we described Delegate when we first previewed it last year, we wanted a simple, but shiny, new design that could compliment VibrantCMS. We believe that Cobus has done a bang-up job of really building on VibrantCMS’ success, but more importantly modernizing & improving it.

Built on the new WooFramework Version 2, Delegate includes a handful of different page templates and Delegate-specific widgets to create a true business canvas, where you can truly create something that is representative of your business. We’ve tried to include a lot of functionality, without bloating the code, to make Delegate a truly customizable theme. So it’s definitely worth your time to check out this beauty…
