Re-focusing

by Adii Rockstar in WooThemes News

Hanging around WooThemes.com the last couple of days, you might’ve noticed that there’s a few bits & pieces that simply disappeared over night. If you haven’t noticed it yet, it probably justifies our decision, but we still owe you an explanation, and assure you we’ll still be taking care of you if this announcement effects you… :)

We launched our ExpressionEngine themes in January last year, in an attempt to diversify and expand our business. The EE launch was also eventually followed by the introduction of Tumblr, Drupal & Magento themes, which re-inforced our strategy and allowed us to really gauge the demand and viability in these markets / communities.

After more than a year of working hard on this strategy, we came to the difficult decision to transition these platforms out of WooThemes as we re-focus our attention on the one CMS which our core team loves: WordPress.

Drupal & EE now on ThemeForest

by Adii Rockstar in WooThemes News

If you’ve been clicking around the site, you would’ve noticed that over the last couple of days our Drupal & ExpressionEngine themes are now re-directing to our new user profile on ThemeForest, as we’ve been getting ready to announce this publicly here.

A while back we decided that our Drupal & EE themes just weren’t getting enough traction here on WooThemes.com, because our focus and our audience is almost exclusively WordPress-orientated. So we set out to find these themes a new home, and a new distribution channel by teaming up with the ThemeForest crew. At this stage, this is very much an experiment and we’ll be adapting our approach accordingly in the next couple of weeks.

Inspire on Drupal & EE, Spectrum on Drupal

7

by Adii Rockstar in New Themes

Our non-WP developers have been very busy behind the scenes, and we are happy to announce that we have just added Inspire & Spectrum to our Drupal & EE collections respectively. Here’s the low-down:

Inspire

Inspire

Since releasing this stylish business theme (on WordPress) at the end of May, it has quickly rocketed to the top of our Theme Leaderboard. So when we had to decide which themes to port to Drupal / EE, Inspire was an obvious choice based on the popular vote by our WordPress users. We believe that this theme will be just as perfect on these other platforms and help promote your business better!

Grab Inspire for Drupal or Inspire for EE!

Spectrum

Spectrum

Spectrum has enjoyed a similar route to extreme popularity and this beautiful magazine theme is also nesting snuggly within the Top 3 on our Theme Leaderboard. In terms of the other Drupal Themes we have available at the moment, you’ll find that Spectrum is very unique and most certainly unlike any other Drupal theme you’ve seen before.

So definitely get yourself a copy of Spectrum for Drupal!

Price Drop!

Along with these new themes, we’ve also decided to adopt a new pricing structure for our Drupal & ExpressionEngine themes in an attempt to standardize it across the board. The new pricing now looks like this (for both Drupal & EE):

  • Standard Package (Drupal & EE): $60 (Single Site License)
  • Developer Package (Drupal & EE): $100 (Multi-site License)

So there’s a few more reasons to check out our Drupal & ExpressionEngine themes – and most definitely a reason for treating yourself to a little indulgence. It’s our treat.

New Nich(EE) Themes

2

by Adii Rockstar in New Themes

Much of our ExpressionEngine themes up until now have been geared towards businesses, but we’re hoping to change that a bit with the release of two, awesome new EE themes: modern-magazine favourite, Daily Edition, and niche, geolocation-hotness, City Guide.

Daily Edition

We know that many of our ExpressionEngine users have been begging us to release some news / magazine type themes for the platform (as these are severely lacking in the EE-world), so we figured that in addition to all-time best-seller, Fresh News, we should release current favourite, Daily Edition.

We’re obviously just happy to make it easy for you to run a content-heavy website on whatever CMS platform you decide to do that… :)

City Guide

This has been one of our most innovative themes to date (and judging by the Theme Leaderboard: definitely one that is popular with our users) and we’re so excited to bring this niche functionality to the EE platform as well.  Bjorn says it was a bit of a challenge to port City Guide to EE, but we’re extremely happy with the results and we look forward to hear what you guys & girls think of the theme after you’ve had a play… this theme could be a great start for a commercial “listings-site” for instance (think of what you can do with user submissions via SAEF, custom statuses for the listings (“Waiting for approval”), and subscription payments with Membrr.. the possibilities are endless).

Custom User Messages Template

All our themes now come bundled with Brian Litzinger’s excellent Cusom System Messages extension, so never again shall we see the default EE user messages dialog ;) (.. and yes!, we haven’t forgotten about that SEO module either! We’ll keep improving the themes).

DISCOUNT! We’d love for you to try out our new EE themes, so why not use “NICHEE” as your coupon code and grab 50% discount on any ExpressionEngine purchase (10 coupons available)?

Optimize on EE

by Adii Rockstar in New Themes

Our next ExpressionEngine theme is now ready and by (extreme) popular demand, we’ve decided that it could be no other than the business theme supreme, Optimize.

As has been evident in all of the WP themes that Bjorn has “ported” to ExpressionEngine, Optimize includes some amazing EE features. You’re missing out if you haven’t already played with one of our EE themes… Check out the demo now, if you’re not convinced…

WANT DISCOUNT? Use the coupon code “OPTIMIZEE” in the next week and you’ll get yourself a nice 25% discount when purchasing Optimize for EE!

WeeThemes Gears Into Business

20

by Adii Rockstar in New Themes

It’s been a couple of (very busy & hard-working) weeks since we first launched our ExpressionEngine themes and we’re now glad to finally shift WeeThemes into it’s next gear. Considering that we are vastly experienced with WordPress, we’re taking a little bit longer to get accustomed to ExpressionEngine, but both our marketing & education is growing fast.

First change we’ve made is giving ExpressionEngine it’s own home here on WooThemes. You can now get your EE fix there – we hope it now becomes clear why you can (in future) consider EE as an alternative for personal & client projects.

Then more great news is that two of our best-selling business themes – Delegate & The Station – are both now available for ExpressionEngine. This takes our total amount of ExpressionEngine themes to 5, with more coming soon.

Welcome to WeeThemes

71

by Adii Rockstar in New Themes, WooThemes News

This definitely took us a while longer than we expected, but one of the biggest and most ambitious days in our history is finally here – we’re proud to announce the addition of ExpressionEngine themes to our collection. With that we hopefully welcome a whole lot of first time visitors to our site, and ExpressionEngine evangelists.

If you have been following us, you’d see that this is the first of the “bigger” things that we’re announcing this year and hence why we’re so excited & slightly nervous at the same time. ExpressionEngine is obviously a relative unknown to us, but for months now we’ve earmarked our expansion to this platform as a top priority. Today, months of hard work and extreme patience (whilst we waited for EE to roll out version 2.0) comes to fruition at last.

So to kickstart things, we’re releasing two paid EE themes – Coffee Break (our fastest selling theme in 2009) & Fresh News (our best-selling theme ever) – and one free theme in Bueno, which is fast becoming one of our most popular free releases.

To produce these themes, we teamed up with one of our friends & EE developer extraordinaire – Bjørn Børresen – who will be responsible for all the development & technical support work associated with our EE themes. And for those concerned: this means that our WordPress work and the capacity to release themes & new stuff for WP, won’t diminish, as we have added Bjørn to the WooTeam for added capacity. :)
