Installing WooThemes Easier

Installing WooThemes regularly on multiple domains and WordPress installations can be quite a tedious task. At the moment, this is what the installation process looks like: Log into your WooThemes Dashboard, download the theme of your choice, upload it to your WP installation via FTP or the WP dashboard and then – finally – activate the theme.

As far as efficiency goes, that’s probably not it…

Luckily for you we share your frustration in this regard and we’re hoping our new free plugin, WooInstaller, will make this process more fun, easier and a whole heap quicker.

WooThemes, Obox & Mobile Optimization

When you suggested that we add mobile optimization for our themes, we listened and today we get the first opportunity to announce some new stuff in this regard. (This announcement will be only our first announcement of a couple in this space.)

We’ve teamed up with our friends over at Obox to bring you mobile optimization for your WooThemes-powered website via the awesome, new Obox Mobile plugin. In the last couple of weeks, the Obox crew have been busy creating this nifty, new WordPress plugin that optimizes the rendering of your WooThemes-powered site on iOS (i.e. iPhone) & Android handheld devices.

As Things Shift…

As I sat down at my desk this morning, I set about doing some catch-up on the conversations that happened via e-mail and on our Basecamp over the weekend, when I suddenly realized that something new & unexpected was brewing within our team & the business as a whole.

In the last couple of weeks, we’ve been spending a lot of time working on the new WooFramework and then shortly thereafter we followed that up with the introduction of the new WooThemes Custom Navigation functionality. Now it is especially the development of the Custom Navigation that has surprised me a bit.

See, we’ve always been WooThemes (with the emphasis firmly on “themes”) and with the Custom Navigation functionality, we’ve developed something this isn’t core to the themes anymore (in the sense, that you could previously achieve a similar effect with plugins). So this is a bit of a shift away from our themes-only focused production line, whilst still staying relevant to the core business focus.
