The Perfect Guide
10. Mar, 2010 by Adii Rockstar in Theme Concepts
After the success of Postcard (most notably for it’s niche use and integration of Google Maps), we decided to team up with Sam Brown (another top designer joining our collaborative design team) to produce another epic, niche theme that uses Google Maps.
So below is a preview of our upcoming theme, CityGuide, which went out to beta recently. If all goes well, CityGuide should be released next week, so keep watching this space!

A Sneak-Peak at 2010
30. Dec, 2009 by Adii Rockstar in Theme Concepts
As we prepare to bombard you with some absolutely amazing new themes in 2010, we wanted to give you at least a little bit of a sneak preview of the new stuff before we close out the year.
Our new batch of themes (i.e. these are designs that have been completed and are ready for development) includes collaborations with the likes of Sam Brown, Liam McKay, Ryan Downie, Mads Esjing, Kirstin Pauk & Chris Rowe; so there’s bound to be something you like in the new year.** The batch also includes themes across all of our ranges i.e. magazine, portfolio, business & personal blogs.
Here’s a very sneaky preview (we’ll follow up with more detailed previews closer to the respective theme’s release dates)…

Your Daily Edition Teaser
13. Aug, 2009 by Adii Rockstar in Theme Concepts
We’re an excitable bunch over here at the WooThemes HQ and nothing excites us more than working with great individuals and getting to share upcoming theme concepts with you lot!
This time around we’ve got a new design from now-WooThemes legend collaborator – Liam McKay – to show you…
We approached Liam in July and asked him to design a follow-up theme for the hugely popular Gazette Edition theme (which is also one of our all-time best-selling themes). The result is a superb, content-rich magazine- / news-style design titled The Daily Edition. Let’s have a look at the design…

We show you teasers (Part 2)
22. Jul, 2009 by Adii Rockstar in Theme Concepts
A while back we posted the first part to this post, where we kinda just got you curious about the themes that we were planning to release soon. Since then we’ve worked on quite a few other things, but these designs have now been finalized (and some of them have even gone into development). So now is the time to actually show you what why we believe that some of our upcoming themes will blow your mind.
Note… Whilst these themes’ designs have been finalized and some of them has been coded, there’s no clear ETA on any of their release dates. So it’s not gonna help if you ask us in the comments. All of these themes will however be pushed out in the next 3 months; so even though we’re being vague, you won’t have to wait too long…

We show you teasers (Part 1)
23. Jun, 2009 by Adii Rockstar in Theme Concepts
Okay, so we probably wouldn’t be able to call ourselves WooThemes if we didn’t continuously get you all excited about future theme releases, by releasing little teasers of upcoming themes. And even though we know we just make your wait so much more painful (because we all want those awesome designs to be delivered right-away), we know you love these posts!
So the last time we posted some teasers, was way back in March this year (here & here) and from those lists we still have Feature Pitch & “Big Easy” (from Dan Rubin) in the backlog. Feature Pitch will be released next week and then Big Easy, along with Groovy Photo & Blog (from last year’s WooContest) have been scheduled for release next month. (Don’t hold us to that, because we’re a fickle bunch hehe…)
For this post then, we’ve got 4 amazing new theme concepts that we’re working on. You’ll see that we’re only showing you very small teasers in Part 1, but as soon as all 4 concepts are completed, we’ll be publishing more in-depth teasers of the upcoming themes. So here we go (in alphabetical order)…

More Upcoming Theme Concepts
20. Mar, 2009 by Adii Rockstar in Theme Concepts
If you follow our Flickr pool, you would’ve noticed that we’ve been adding quite a few new theme concepts in the last couple of days. Now along with my own The Station concepts (the theme will be available next week) and Dan Rubin’s theme concept we posted this past week, we’d like to share three more upcoming theme concepts with you…
Feature Pitch
I have been enjoying putting on my design hat of late and ever since FRESH01 & Foxinni joined the WooThemes team, I now have some amazing skills to assist me. So for Feature Pitch (which will still get a more unique logo), I came up with the concept and then had FRESH’s help to polish the design and truly turn it into a top-notch WooTheme.
The theme’s purpose is simple: to sell your products / services. This is a promotional site, influenced largely by the way Mac Applications (see Things.app and Versions.app) are being promoted and sold. Also – to serve this purpose, we have actually gone for a much narrower design and the width is only about 800px.
I feel that this theme is something unique in terms of our current business theme offerings (only Productum comes close in purpose & focus), which means we’re only trying to offer you an even bigger variety when it comes to using the right theme, to promote your business in the best possible way. Here’s some teaser images:

New Theme Concept by Dan Rubin
19. Mar, 2009 by Adii Rockstar in Theme Concepts
As I designer, it is always a privilege collaborating with designers that you admire. For me, one such a designer is Dan Rubin, whom I started following way back in my early days of exploring the interwebs along with my own design abilities. You just need to have a look at the list of books that Dan has authored (or co-authored) on CSS, web standards & design; to get an idea of how well-known Dan is…
A while back we got him to do a collaboration with us on a new theme and we’re no nearing the end of the design process (Dan has already started coding it). The concept is a personal profile space and includes sections to publish your portfolio, along with your other online activities. We’ll also be using Cufon (first time for us) for the custom fonts, which will add a nice typographic style to the theme.
So here’s a bit of a teaser… The theme (which is yet to get a name) will probably be available in the next 2 / 3 months… But we’re open for persuasion on developing this earlier…

Sneak peek at Productum
12. Jan, 2009 by Mark Forrester in Theme Concepts
As Adii mentioned last week there are some really exciting themes to look forward to over the next few months.
Lately I’ve been fairly quiet being more involved in creating alternate styles for other designer’s woothemes, then designing themes myself, but over the last few weeks I’ve managed to find some time to work on some designs of my own. The latest being Productum which is a theme dedicated to promoting your product or service.
Packed into a neat 16 column grid structure this theme comes bundled with a neat product image slideshow, a featured content block, recent news/blog posts and some widgetized modules available on your home page. As always it will be available in a variety of colourful styles. With all these features you should be able to customize Productum enough to have a very slick, professional marketing tool. Might I add this theme is not an e-commerce theme, but will have theme options to easily link buttons to payment facilities.
This theme should be available for purchase in late March/April.
Constructive feedback and feature requests are much appreciated, but we obviously cannot guarantee to accomodate all of them.
Themes to look forward to in Q1 2009
07. Jan, 2009 by Adii Rockstar in Theme Concepts
If you follow us loyally, you’ll know that we’re pretty good at teasing you with new theme concepts, before we end up releasing them.
So with that in mind, here’s some of the themes that we’re working on at the moment. All of these themes will be released in the next 3 months – we might change this slightly – depending on whether something comes up and we replace one of these with another concept – and in no specific order. All of these themes are currently in various stages of development and we’ll probably schedule their release as soon as they near completion (we’re not like those corporates with 1 / 3 / 6 & 12 month plans…). Here they are (click on the thumbnails for larger previews):
This will be our first theme release for 2009 and it has been scheduled for tomorrow (if all pans out as planned). The theme is actually already completed (see demo here) and I’m just working on adding a few different colour schemes and styles (go here for more previews).
The theme is a blog & portfolio hybrid and I’ve tried to take everything we’ve learned from you about our previous portfolio themes (Fresh Folio & Proudfolio). So this is a new take on an older idea, whilst the custom, widgetized (!!) homepage is also something new for Woo. Check back tomorrow for a more complete demo & run-down of Geometric’s features…

How many themes are you working on? More teasers…
06. Nov, 2008 by Adii Rockstar in Theme Concepts
We know that this might come as a complete surprise to you, but we currently have about 10 themes that are in various states of development. Along with the 9 theme concepts that we have purchased from our WooContest winners, we have a few more collaborations that we’re working on. So, as we’re gearing up to release Matt Brett’s theme early next week, we thought it’d be cool to get your mouth watering over some of the other themes that are in the works…
Abstract by Veerle Pieters
Yup – you read it right! WooThemes is indeed collaborating with the super-designer, uber-illustrator and industry-leading designer, Veerle Pieters. We approached Veerle about a month ago to get cracking on a new design for us and she has created something truly unique and 100% within her signature style. This is a major coup for us in our attempts to get the best web designers involved with WooThemes in collaborative projects. Any here’s some enticing teasers:

WooTheme Teaser: How do you like your eggs?
14. Oct, 2008 by Magnus in Theme Concepts
There have been lots of theme concepts floating around the WooCamp lately, including collaborations with well know designers and lots of good WooContest entries, so I thought I would add to the mix. We’ve been lacking a good business theme after the launch of VibrantCMS, and that is why I wanted to design a sleek and sexy business theme directed at small/one man web/coding companies, but also versatile enough to be used as a personal blog/portfolio.
The front page template includes a prominent header where your message will come accross to the visitor, and your work / products will be displayed in the slider underneath. There will also be numerous color styles just like in VibrantCMS so it will be easy to find something to fit your brand. Check the screeshot for a few already made.

Teaser from Matt Brett’s punk rock garage
07. Oct, 2008 by Adii Rockstar in Theme Concepts
About a month ago now, I tweeted about having signed up a few popular and well-known international web designers to work with us on some collaborative themes for WooThemes. So having kept this secret for the past month, I think it’s time to share and show what we’ve been cooking up behind the scenes…
So the first collaboration we’ve lined up is with grunge, design king – Matt Brett. For me personally, this was a major coup, since Matt was one of the first designers that I started to follow when I started to teach myself design / development at the end of 2006. Beyond that though, I’m sure that you’d agree that Matt comes with a big reputation, a signature design style and an awesome portfolio (so exactly the kind of things we’re looking for in a collaborative partner).
The Theme Concept
During the last 2 weeks, Matt has been working on a brand new theme concept for personal bloggers. We decided after a spade of content-heavy themes, we needed to focus on releasing some themes targeted at individual bloggers.
This will also be the first theme that will include lifestreaming functionality – so we’re aiming to release another extremely feature-rich and multi-purpose theme. Along with the lifestreaming, the theme will also contain functionality to include / display your favourite books, games, DVD’s & music within the design – so the focus will be 100% on you, as the blogger (if you have a look at Matt’s own design, you’ll get an idea of what we’re talking about).
So what does the theme look like?
A blog post hyping about a new theme wouldn’t mean anything without some images, so here’s a few to give you an idea of what the finished product will look like… Note that the theme will essentially have 4 distinct styles i.e. Light on Dark Clean, Dark on Light Clean, Light on Dark Grunge and finally Dark on Light Grunge. And obviously all 4 of these styles will come in a few different colour scheme options (isn’t that what you expect from us by now?).

There’s something in the air
11. Sep, 2008 by Adii Rockstar in Theme Concepts
Since we don’t like keeping you in the dark about the things we are cooking up here at WooThemes HQ, we just thought that we’d share some sneak previews of the newest theme we’re working on…
During the last few weeks we’ve been working with some collaborative designers on new theme concepts and one of these – entitled Open Air (another collaboration with Liam McKay) – is nearing completion and will be available during the latter stages of this month. The theme will have a dual-purpose, as it will include both a magazine-style & traditional blog layout, whilst also featuring a brand new (enhanced) video player, which we’ll be experimenting with.
Here’s a teaser collage of screenshots (there’s no larger preview available):

We’re quite excited about the theme and even though we won’t be reinventing the wheel, you can expect another typically, quality release from us. Kudo’s also to Liam for again coming up with a brilliant concept, after the very popular release of Papercut last month.
We look forward to sharing this one with our WooTheme users!
And if it isn’t obvious to you yet: we’re pretty serious about regularly releasing new themes. The themes scheduled for the next few months will blow your mind! So sign up to The WooThemes Club already!
