We however decided that these awesome, little icons shouldn’t be limited only to WooThemes or f0101 users… So here’s the public release of those…

The Simple & Bold icon set includes 15 separate icons (sized at 16 x 16 pixels) for the most popular social networks (Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, YouTube, Tumblr etc.). The icons are custom shape illustrations (in Photoshop) to allow you to change the one-tone colour to absolutely anything. The download package includes the 15 icons in 6 default colour schemes (in PNG format), as well as the Photoshop file to allow you to change the colours easily & quickly.

Here’s a preview:

The new theme teasers are coming thick and fast these days; and a WooWeek just wouldn’t be a WooWeek without us posting new teasers, would it? Today’s teaser however has a little more significance…

When we first decided that we wanted to support International Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we approached Veerle Pieters (who we had previously worked with on Abstract) to design a theme that would not only celebrate women, but also support our own awareness campaign during October. And so F01.01 has been born…

F01.01 - Homepage

F01.01 - Inner Page

From the above screenshots, you’ll see that the design is perfectly suited for all our girly personal bloggers out there, as it sports a pixel-perfect (and custom) illustration in Veerle’s signature style. But beyond the obvious awesomeness of that illustration, the whole design carries a sophistication that you would only experience in designs created by designers of Veerle’s quality; it definitely looks like every piece of text, every link and every button has been hand-crafted to perfection to make F01.01 one of our most stylish themes to date.

If at this stage, you’re wondering how the girly illustration will relate to your own personal branding, we’ve devised two possible plans at this early stage:

We will be making it easy for you to simply exclude the illustration from your design and thus only use the rest of this amazing design; or

We hope to work with other illustrators to customize the illustration enough to be representative of more women (hair colour, ethnicity etc.) with a few more colour style options in terms of clothing.

And in terms of the guys, we haven’t forgotten you either… Whilst the focus of the theme is definitely on enhancing our “We Love Boobs” campaign, Veerle has also created F01.01′s sibling aptly titled M01.01…

M01.01 - Homepage

M01.01 - Inner Page

So what do you think? Excited about this release (which will happen in the next week or two btw)? We’re really hoping that we can count on your support for both this theme, as part of our awareness campaign, so shoot with those suggestions and ideas which will hopefully make this another top-notch WooThemes release…

We know that we’ve been bombarding you with a lot of new theme concepts of late; and that amidst us not even releasing some themes that we’ve showed you quite a while back. Well there’s method in our madness…

First up, we’ve tried to create a new space for you to keep track of all the different teasers / previews that we’ve posted on the blog. This “Themes in Progress” page is also accessible from the navigation menu’s in our footer and you should check there regularly if you want to drool…

Secondly, we’re getting through us much work as possible in the next 2 months, so that we can have a bit of a rest in December & early January. So whilst we’ll be blogging, releasing new themes and providing support during that time, we won’t be working overly hard on new stuff. Everybody needs a break ya’know…

And lastly, we wanted to tease you a little more before we leave… We have been working with 3 awesome designers – Veerle Pieters (2nd time), Sam Brown & Sarah Parmenter – on 3 new & unique designs which we will probably preview in the next week or two. We also unexpectedly purchased a design submitted to us by a very talented, young designer Ajmal Eylia last week. So there’s another 4 new themes which we need to show pretty soon.

Your only choice is thus to stay up-to-date.

I recently wrote a post over at WooCamp titled “5 Reasons to collaborate”, which suggests that collaborating with the absolute best-of-the-best designers has contributed massively to what we do here. Many of our themes (in fact, exactly 18 out of the current 36) were designed by others; so when we talk about collaborating, we’re pretty serious about it!

Now, collaboration aside, we wanted to publish a post, where we could give ourselves a few warm fuzzies, along with a little (innocent) ego-stroking. We contacted some of the designers that we’ve worked with in the past and asked them one simple question: What do they think about their collaboration with WooThemes?

Here’s what they said…

Working with WooThemes is a pleasure every time. The guys run a well-oiled machine but they’re super friendly and always open to new ideas. In fact, the creative freedom the team give their designers is why I enjoy collaborating with them so much, and their respect for designers’ decisions is rarely matched by other clients.

Elliot Jay Stocks – Designer for Proudfolio & Backstage (upcoming)

Some of the nice things (of working with WooThemes) were the creative freedom and trust that was shown to me. Fast responses and feedback also made the process move along very quickly.

Tony Geer – Designer of SophisticatedFolio (upcoming)

WooThemes are awesome to work with. A lot of freedom, correct and stipulate with payments, and good feedback when needed.

Tim van Damme – Designer of Antisocial (upcoming)

The people of WooThemes absolutely let me do my own thing. They actually insisted on it, which makes this collaboration unique for me.

I often work with clients who have boundaries and constraints in place before they ask me to do the design work for their project. Working with WooThemes was totally different—I was free to totally express myself and be as creative as I wanted, while still focusing on solid graphic design. Their attitude and trust definitely made it a fun and cool experience. I was even able to name the theme. Because the experience was so great, I feel honored to have my name attached to this project.

Veerle Pieters – Designer of Abstract

Working with WooThemes achieved, if not getting really close to achieving, the perfect relationship between client and designer. They know what their market would like and provide the proper boundaries so that the end product is in-line with expectations without hampering creativity. It’s no wonder I constantly prod them for another opportunity, I had a blast working with them.

Bryan Veloso – Designer of Suit & Tie

WooThemes do a fantastic job of letting your creativity come out. I think they embraced my ideas and really gave me a lot of freedom in the design work. As creative people themsleves they understand the pressures on the designer, and realize how important it is to give proper ideas, feedback and communication. Probably the most pleasant working experience I’ve ever had.

Liam McKay – Designer of Papercut, Ambience & Cushy

Working with the WooThemes fellas wasn’t like working for a client at all. They provide some basic features they wanted to see in the theme, and a general direction, then basically said, “Go!” The design process was quite nice, since all three of them are designers themselves. If I was ever stuck on a detail or needed someone to bounce ideas off, they were quick to open up and return with helpful suggestions and feedback.

Matt Brett – Designer of THiCK

So based on that, I think it’ safe to say that we’re a pretty cool bunch to work with… What do you think?

A good few months ago we commissioned Veerle to design us a theme with a typical Veerle flair to it. We requested the theme have a business feel to it, keeping it simple and fun though. That was our only guidelines giving Veerle almost complete creative freedom on this project.

The end product that Veerle supplied us with was a pixel perfect Illustrator mashup of shapes and curvy lines in a harmonious colour palette, laid out neatly in a spacious grid structure. It was professional enough to be used as a business theme, and also fun enough to be used as a personal theme making it quite multi-functional.

Over the last month, we’ve sliced and diced her beautiful photoshop/illustrator design into neat html/css and Adii and Magnus have applied some wordpress wizardry.

I was the lucky one to be selected to create some alternate styles for the theme, not a particularly easy task when working with an industry leading designer’s designs. No pressure. I do hope you enjoy the 4 alternate styles though and will find one that suites your personality.

We know that this might come as a complete surprise to you, but we currently have about 10 themes that are in various states of development. Along with the 9 theme concepts that we have purchased from our WooContest winners, we have a few more collaborations that we’re working on. So, as we’re gearing up to release Matt Brett’s theme early next week, we thought it’d be cool to get your mouth watering over some of the other themes that are in the works…

Abstract by Veerle Pieters

Yup – you read it right! WooThemes is indeed collaborating with the super-designer, uber-illustrator and industry-leading designer, Veerle Pieters. We approached Veerle about a month ago to get cracking on a new design for us and she has created something truly unique and 100% within her signature style. This is a major coup for us in our attempts to get the best web designers involved with WooThemes in collaborative projects. Any here’s some enticing teasers:

Editorial by Mark Forrester

Well, we can’t let our collaborative partners have all the fun ya’know. Mark has been working on this concept on / off for a while now and we believe that this is definitely a ground-breaking theme in terms of the functionality involved. The theme is aptly called Editorial, since we’re creating a true magazine-vibe, whereby the posts are split into monthly issues, whilst the homepage acts as a Table of Contents of sorts. Here’s the visual low-down:

Cushy by <a title="Liam McKay > wefunction” href=”http://www.wefunction.com” target=”_blank”>Liam McKay

I think it is obvious that we kinda like Liam’s designs, as this will be the 4th theme he’ll release with WooThemes. After Liam’s previous WooThemes (Papercut, Open Air & Ambience) have focused on personal & magazine-type designs, we got Liam to work on a new business / corporate design and this is what you can expect:

But wait! There’s more…

We don’t have teaser images for this one yet, but we’ve also recently started to work with CSS-guru, Dan Rubin. Dan – who has written quite a few books on web design & CSS – has promised to use some groundbreaking CSS techniques to push the abilities and design aesthetics of our themes to the next level. So we’re also really excited to be working with someone of Dan’s calibre and I’m sure you’ll join us in our anticipation to see what Dan produces..

So what do you think of the new teasers? Do you think that it is worth your time to sign up for The WooThemes Club, considering that we’ll be releasing these beauties (along with the 9 winners from the WooContest) into the wild in the next 2 / 3 months? Maybe you need to evaluate the value of our club in more detail?
