The Perfect Guide
10. Mar, 2010 by Adii Rockstar in Theme Concepts
After the success of Postcard (most notably for it’s niche use and integration of Google Maps), we decided to team up with Sam Brown (another top designer joining our collaborative design team) to produce another epic, niche theme that uses Google Maps.
So below is a preview of our upcoming theme, CityGuide, which went out to beta recently. If all goes well, CityGuide should be released next week, so keep watching this space!

Tumbling Teasers
08. Feb, 2010 by Adii Rockstar in Theme Concepts
We have been working on our tumblog themes for quite a while now and the only reason that we haven’t produced something more concrete until now, is because we wanted to make sure that the themes would be truly groundbreaking in every single aspect thereof.
So this is the first preview of our first two tumblog themes – Cinch & Slanted. Both were designed by Cobus and will feature amazing jQuery wizardry and some CSS3 advancements (for those cool kids that know all about using superior browsers). In the backend we’re also planning a few surprises that we hope to get as close to a proper Tumblr-style tumblog experience as possible.
Both themes should be ready later this month, but for now these teasers will have to keep you satisfied…

A Sneak-Peak at 2010
30. Dec, 2009 by Adii Rockstar in Theme Concepts
As we prepare to bombard you with some absolutely amazing new themes in 2010, we wanted to give you at least a little bit of a sneak preview of the new stuff before we close out the year.
Our new batch of themes (i.e. these are designs that have been completed and are ready for development) includes collaborations with the likes of Sam Brown, Liam McKay, Ryan Downie, Mads Esjing, Kirstin Pauk & Chris Rowe; so there’s bound to be something you like in the new year.** The batch also includes themes across all of our ranges i.e. magazine, portfolio, business & personal blogs.
Here’s a very sneaky preview (we’ll follow up with more detailed previews closer to the respective theme’s release dates)…

Optimized
07. Dec, 2009 by Adii Rockstar in Theme Concepts
Some of you might have already seen this, but for those of you that don’t follow us on Twitter (or in fact- the whole WooTeam), we’ve decided to make it a little easier to get in on some optimized action…
After the rip-roaring success of Magnus’ Coffee Break design (which is probably our fastest selling theme of 2009), he opened up his Photoshop for one last hurrah (for this year anyway) and got designing on another cracker of a business theme. Since we launched WOO2 back in June of this year, we’ve been getting so many requests for us to release our (custom btw) design as a theme, so with Magnus’ new design, we needed to take that into account as well (since we love giving you exactly what you want).
The result is a slick new design entitled Optimize, which builds on Coffee Break’s success, as well as the popularity of our own design. Take a look…

In The Company of Royalty
13. Oct, 2009 by Adii Rockstar in Theme Concepts
Last week we previewed F01.01 by Veerle Pieters (which is coming along nicely btw) and today we’ve got a new design by another female design supremo – Sarah Parmenter. And obviously we don’t need to tell you that both of these are in support of the We Love Boobs campaign we’re running in October.
If you haven’t seen it yet, then you’re not following us, are you?
Anyway… We’re all about the design, the WordPress goodness and the themes; so we’ll get to it already. We gave Sarah a very clear & simple brief (that’s what we’d like to believe okay) about her design for WooThemes: “Design a girly / alternative version of our Antisocial theme to support our Breast Cancer Awareness campaign.”

Wish you were here
28. Sep, 2009 by Mark Forrester in Theme Concepts
If WooThemes were a work desk, it would be one of those really messy desks littered with sketches and papers at the moment. We have so many theme concepts we are currently working on both in-house and with theme collaborators. It’s most certainly a creative place to be.
A couple weeks back I opened up Photoshop and dusted off the toolboxes to start experimenting with a travel blogging theme design, fresh after my recent holiday to the Greek Islands.

Today’s Headline Teaser
25. Sep, 2009 by Adii Rockstar in Theme Concepts
We’ve told you this before and this won’t be the last time you hear it: but Magnus is a machine… Lovingly called Magatron within the WooTeam, Magnus has a knack of creating something from absolutely nowhere and more often than not those creations / ideas are top-notch stuff.
So with his new magazine-type design – titled Headlines – he completely took the team by surprise, as we didn’t know he was working on a new design. Whilst Headlines hasn’t reinvented any wheel, the team has been very impressed by the design and the feedback we received from the teaser we posted on Facebook seems to confirm our early positive feelings about the design. So let’s take a closer look at the new theme…

The Company Delegate
22. Sep, 2009 by Adii Rockstar in Theme Concepts

Our Business Themes collection is still one of our most popular ranges on WooThemes and to an extent this popularity was sparked by the release of the grand-daddy – VibrantCMS – back in July last year.
So in a recent little internal study to decide which type of themes we should be working on, we decided that since VibrantCMS was still selling really well, we needed to release an updated, more modern and younger brother for it. The result is an awesome new design – entitled Delegate – which we produced internally, with FRESH01 at the helm of the design duties.
Taken from Dictionary.com, this is what Delegate means:
a person designated to act for or represent another or others; deputy; representative, as in a political convention.
So what does this supposed awesome design look like?

Streaming Your Teaser
16. Sep, 2009 by Adii Rockstar in Theme Concepts
Last week we previewed Therapy – a new theme design by Izuddin Helmi – and this week it’s more of the same awesomeness…
When we approached Izuddin – approximately a month ago – about designing a new theme for us, he pitched two separate mockups to us: the first being Therapy and then he also sent us another concept titled my.stream which was completely different to Therapy, even though it borrowed some of its style. We obviously couldn’t resist the awesomeness and instead decided to negotiate an increased fee if we bought both concepts, because we just knew that all of the Woo fanboys & -girls would love to choose between both these designs…

Need Some Therapy?
10. Sep, 2009 by Adii Rockstar in Theme Concepts

We can’t let a week go by without us showing you some new awesomeness, that we’ll be adding to our themes collection in the near future. And that awesomeness is probably compounded by the fact that it’ll most probably end up being a free release as well…
And Therapy should go down ever better, after you voted for another new, free theme – Rockstar (preview the beta here) – which will be available on WooThemes in the next 2 weeks. So that’s probably 2 new free themes, that will be bulking up our collection of free themes. Excited yet?

The Object Teaser
01. Sep, 2009 by Adii Rockstar in Theme Concepts
In Norway they do things differently… Or at least to what I’m used to as a South African… So when I go away for a weekend, I don’t expect to come back and see a new design concept from Magnus. But somehow Magnus loves this unexpected and unplanned way of designing & releasing his themes, as both Busy Bee and Coffee Break came to existence in this very way.
If you’ve had a look at our best-selling themes, you’d also be stupid to bet against Magnus pulling off another extremely popular design… In fact… I personally made the mistake of not backing Busy Bee entirely when I first saw it and it’s now our second most popular theme EVER… That’s called learning the hard way…
So onto Magnus’ new design (yes, that one which he designed and basically finished coding over the weekend)… The new design has been titled Object and is a photoblogging theme a little bit similar to Aperture. Magnus has however decided to focus more on photos (making this more of a niche theme), whereas Aperture is probably a little bit more multi-purposed. Here’s what Object looks like…

Vote: Do You Want This On WooThemes?
21. Aug, 2009 by Adii Rockstar in Theme Concepts
After rebooting my personal blog yesterday, I thought that I’d throw this one out there for some feedback… during the previous 6 months, I got a lot of positive feedback on the design I previously used on my blog, and my readers seemed to like it due to it’s clean, uncluttered style (which made reading easy I assume).
So not to stroke my ego, but would you be keen for us to port this design to WooThemes and release it (most probably a free download) on here? I’m asking based on the feedback I got on the design and also the recent popularity of Mainstream, which is a theme / design in a similar mould.
Here’s what the design looked like (it will obviously need a few minor design adjustments before we could release it on WooThemes):

Your Daily Edition Teaser
13. Aug, 2009 by Adii Rockstar in Theme Concepts
We’re an excitable bunch over here at the WooThemes HQ and nothing excites us more than working with great individuals and getting to share upcoming theme concepts with you lot!
This time around we’ve got a new design from now-WooThemes legend collaborator – Liam McKay – to show you…
We approached Liam in July and asked him to design a follow-up theme for the hugely popular Gazette Edition theme (which is also one of our all-time best-selling themes). The result is a superb, content-rich magazine- / news-style design titled The Daily Edition. Let’s have a look at the design…

We show you teasers (Part 2)
22. Jul, 2009 by Adii Rockstar in Theme Concepts
A while back we posted the first part to this post, where we kinda just got you curious about the themes that we were planning to release soon. Since then we’ve worked on quite a few other things, but these designs have now been finalized (and some of them have even gone into development). So now is the time to actually show you what why we believe that some of our upcoming themes will blow your mind.
Note… Whilst these themes’ designs have been finalized and some of them has been coded, there’s no clear ETA on any of their release dates. So it’s not gonna help if you ask us in the comments. All of these themes will however be pushed out in the next 3 months; so even though we’re being vague, you won’t have to wait too long…

We show you teasers (Part 1)
23. Jun, 2009 by Adii Rockstar in Theme Concepts
Okay, so we probably wouldn’t be able to call ourselves WooThemes if we didn’t continuously get you all excited about future theme releases, by releasing little teasers of upcoming themes. And even though we know we just make your wait so much more painful (because we all want those awesome designs to be delivered right-away), we know you love these posts!
So the last time we posted some teasers, was way back in March this year (here & here) and from those lists we still have Feature Pitch & “Big Easy” (from Dan Rubin) in the backlog. Feature Pitch will be released next week and then Big Easy, along with Groovy Photo & Blog (from last year’s WooContest) have been scheduled for release next month. (Don’t hold us to that, because we’re a fickle bunch hehe…)
For this post then, we’ve got 4 amazing new theme concepts that we’re working on. You’ll see that we’re only showing you very small teasers in Part 1, but as soon as all 4 concepts are completed, we’ll be publishing more in-depth teasers of the upcoming themes. So here we go (in alphabetical order)…

More Upcoming Theme Concepts
20. Mar, 2009 by Adii Rockstar in Theme Concepts
If you follow our Flickr pool, you would’ve noticed that we’ve been adding quite a few new theme concepts in the last couple of days. Now along with my own The Station concepts (the theme will be available next week) and Dan Rubin’s theme concept we posted this past week, we’d like to share three more upcoming theme concepts with you…
Feature Pitch
I have been enjoying putting on my design hat of late and ever since FRESH01 & Foxinni joined the WooThemes team, I now have some amazing skills to assist me. So for Feature Pitch (which will still get a more unique logo), I came up with the concept and then had FRESH’s help to polish the design and truly turn it into a top-notch WooTheme.
The theme’s purpose is simple: to sell your products / services. This is a promotional site, influenced largely by the way Mac Applications (see Things.app and Versions.app) are being promoted and sold. Also – to serve this purpose, we have actually gone for a much narrower design and the width is only about 800px.
I feel that this theme is something unique in terms of our current business theme offerings (only Productum comes close in purpose & focus), which means we’re only trying to offer you an even bigger variety when it comes to using the right theme, to promote your business in the best possible way. Here’s some teaser images:
