October is International Breast Cancer Awareness Month and since we have big hearts (and totally love boobs), we’d love to do our bit in helping to fight this worthy cause.
It’s undeniable that all of us have important women in our lives, without whom life just wouldn’t be as awesome. Current statistics suggest that almost 200 000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009 and 40 000 women will pass away as a result of this horrible disease (via). Those statistics alone should be enough to convince anyone to throw their weight behind and support breast cancer awareness.
So we’ve decided to lead by example in the WordPress community and do our bit in the global fight against this often fatal disease…
HOW WE’LL HELP
During the month of October, we will be donating a percentage of our proceeds to a local South African breast cancer charity (information below). We’re hoping that you will buy a bucketload of themes from us during this next month, enabling us to make a significant financial contribution to this charity’s breast cancer awareness efforts.
This is what we’ll be donating:
- 20% of total sales of any of our Business themes; and
- 100% of the sales of two new themes (to be released in October) which has been designed by top female designers – Veerle Pieters & Sarah Parmenter.
THE CHARITY
We have chosen to support a local organization – Breast Buddies – in their efforts of raising awareness about breast cancer and also providing a support forum for people that have been affected by the disease.
We specifically wanted to support a South African organization, as the whole WooTeam will be in the country in November, which means we will be able to meet up with the great people at Breast Buddies and hand over the proceeds this campaign will generate.

In addition to buying as many themes as you possibly can, you can also tell your friends about breast cancer (in general) and the “We Love Boobs” campaign that we’re hosting here. We also created some nice pink affiliate banners for all our affiliates to help us promote this very worthy cause.
